This week, Jason brings back an old topic as he picks up his dive into the Enneagram.  He explores type 2 in this episode and what it means to be one, even though he's a 9...  Jordan asks Jason some questions about the 2 type of the Enneagram. There was no Mind of The Middleschooler this week as Lilia had an early night.  We enjoy another Ice Beer this week, this time from Icehouse!!!  Like us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram - @musicofthespherespod, follow us on Twitter - @musicspherespod, check out our website - www.musicofthespherespodcast.com, and send us an email at brothers@musicofthespherespodcast.com.

    The Disintegration Loops

    The Disintegration Loops

All we talk about is the smoke.

Where I live it has replaced the weather; both conversationally and to some degree physically. Fire has become its own season.

I have not had a conversation in over a month that didn’t at least touch on the smoke.

But really, that’s only if we’re lucky. Because if we aren’t talking about the smoke, it’s because a fire has come close enough to talk about that instead. Close enough to our houses or friends houses or favorite places in the mountains that we watch slowly be eaten by a red line as the Facebook group updates the fire perimeter.

    The Disintegration Machine

    The Disintegration Machine

This week's tale is a sci-fi short story from legendary Sherlock Holmes creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  Holmes was not his only bombastic hero, and this short story concerns another of his characters, Professor Challenger.  He was first introduced in The Lost World, and features in a number of Conan Doyle science fiction stories.  He may possess a similar analytical mind to Holmes, and although he is considered one of the greatest scientific minds in his world, Challenger is a brute, a huge specimen with a bristling beard and a quick temper.  This Tale first appeared in 1920, and pits Professor Challenger against the inventor of a fascinating machine with potentially diabolical applications...

Was the Nuclear Family a Mistake?

Was the Nuclear Family a Mistake?

What's wrong with the nuclear family in the 21st century? What role does it play in the church and in the life of discipleship.

We're continuing to seek a sacred world in a secular age, and today we're following up on a point made at the end of our last episode on Smartphones. Namely, how have we changed the way intergenerational relationships work over the years? What are we doing wrong that we're not even seeing?

We're using a resource that made our heads turn immediately after recording the episode on smartphones:

"The Nuclear Family Was a Mistake," by David Brooks. The Atlantic, March 2020.
