Fantastic Four - 2025: Way Too Late Predictions for Pedro Pascal's New Marvel Family

Fantastic Four - 2025: Way Too Late Predictions for Pedro Pascal's New Marvel Family

After the news of Marvel's casting of the upcoming Fantastic Four, we decided to drop our formerly Patreon-exclusive mini-sode (from over a year ago!) to see how close we got to nail this cast! Discover how Cory, Tanner and Nick's predictions measured up to the star-studded reality slated for Marvel's 2025 epic.

Who's got the chops to embody the genius of Reed Richards and the grace of Sue Storm?  And who is worthy enough to don Dr. Doom's iconic mask and give us the iconic villain we deserve? (He's yet to be cast, so maybe we get it right!)

Will Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Victor Von Doom's cerebral clash redefine superhero rivalries? We dissect potential story arcs and the seismic shifts in the post-Endgame MCU, sowing seeds for an intricately woven narrative web.

Join us for a conversation brimming with audacious predictions, insider musings, and passionate Marvel fandom.

Doctor Doom Vols. 1-2: Pottersville and Bedford Falls - Cantwell, Larroca

Doctor Doom Vols. 1-2: Pottersville and Bedford Falls - Cantwell, Larroca

It's time to get reading and discussing in The Fake Nerd Book Club! The original FNP segment has expanded to its own show, featuring deeper explorations of whole series, special deep dives on novels, interviews with creators, and the archive of segments from the mothership podcast.

For his rotational pick, Ryan chose the 2 volumes containing all 10 issues of the abbreviated Doctor Doom run. The comic really sings for the boys when it's about Doom and Kang, the strength of the story. There are other elements that reek of being hurt from cancellation. Overall, there's a lot of things to enjoy about what the run was trying to do with Doom and they get into all of it. All issues are written by Christopher Cantwell and illustrated by Salvador Larroca. Enjoy the discussion!

Superhero Suite #095: Not So Secret Wars
Crossovers may seem common these days, but in 1984 Marvel created one of the first and biggest with their event called Secret Wars. Heroes and villains battling it out on Battleworld in a fight to the death, thanks to the Beyonder. But it was much more than just a comic story. It influenced future comics, generated products, and maybe even affected the future MCU. Jay and Josh go beyond on Superhero Suite.

How did the World's Greatest Comic Magazine become The World's Least Seen Comic Book Movie? David F. Walker is one of the most prolific writers working in comics today. His Marvel/20th Century Planet of the Apes series (drawn by David Wachter) launches in April, and his Eisner Award-winning Bitter Root (co-written with Chuck Brown and illustrated by Sanford Greene) just got a beautiful omnibus edition of its first arc, published by Image Comics. And his other Eisner-winning book, The Black Panther Party (with artist Marcus Kwame Anderson), continues to generate critical and commercial acclaim. The MCU's Phase 4 is going out with a BOOM! BANG!

The MCU's Phase 4 is going out with a BOOM! BANG!

My quick reaction to the new Wakanda Forever trailer, which dropped today. It evaporated any doubts I had about the MCU going forward.

I briefly opine on how this trailer affirms my belief that this film, which is to be released on November 11, will not only set the table for a thrilling Phase 5, but introduce at least one character (Namor) that will be in the MCU indefinitely or as long as Kevin Feige/Tenoch Huerta can go.

Corrections: 1. I referenced Marvel's page for "Wakanda vs Atlantis" when the page is actually "Black Panther and Namor: A Tale of Two Kings." 2. Towards the end of segment, I indicated that the trailer was two minutes and 14 seconds when it was two minutes and 11 seconds. 3. In my excitement I forgot to comment on Dominique Thorne's "Riri Williams/Ironheart" which was amazing to see in the trailer! I'm super-hyped to see where they take the character in this film and beyond.

Overall, Wakanda Forever looks primed to throttle the box office records next month!!

My MCU Notes: Reflections, Hopes and Moderate Expectations

In this episode, I give a sobering yet optimistic reflection on phase 4 of the Marvel Studios' Marvel Cinematic Universe and where I hope they're taking us for phases 5 & 6.

The episode includes brief reviews of its latest Disney Plus show, "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" and its recent summer blockbuster "Thor: Love and Thunder."

The episode concludes with a humble reflection and prayer for Marvel to deliver the goods with the long-awaited introductions of Namor (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and Doctor Doom (????) to the MCU.

Miles Stokes is one-half of the podcasting duo behind Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men, the Marvel history show that's basically what we do, except: they only cover mutant-adjacent Marvel books, they've been doing it for more than twice as long as we have, and they actually have some idea of what they're talking about. Also very much worth checking out is Miles' Thor podcast, The Lightning and the Storm, which he co-hosted with Elisabeth Allie.

San Diego Comic Con, Got us all Hot and Bothered!

San Diego Comic Con, Got us all Hot and Bothered!

This week we sit down to talk about all of the upcoming projects for Phase's 5 and 6 that Marvel announced at San Diego Comic Con. Such as Black Panther; Wakanda Forever, Iron Heart, Daredevil Born Again, and the culmination of the Multiverse Saga.  As well as the implosion that is happening over at Warner Brothers Discovery with the DC Comics properties.

Before Getting to all of that Tanner and Brooksy debate which peanut butter and what type of Jelly is best( its raspberry don't let Brooksy tell you otherwise).

This episode contains a massive amount of profanity and sexual comments. You have been warned!

San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Breaking News!

San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Breaking News!

Marvel and DC came to SDCC and gave us a bounty of new information... well, Marvel did anyway. Things are a little less fulsome on the DC side, but does that mean an unannounced Fandome is in our future?

Marvel gave us all of Phase Five, a look at the cornerstones of Phase Six AND the name of this three Phase cycle: The Multiverse Saga. We go long on all of these movies, what they could be, what it could all mean, and what we're most excited about. For me it's definitely Namor.

Plus: I share the reason why Marvel has still not announced an X-Men film, and likely won't be announcing one for a hot minute. Plus: we make our best guesses on how the Multiverse Saga will end. Plus: we just go on and on about a 38 year old miniseries, Secret Wars

We'll be back next week to chat The Boys, and then after that we'll begin covering She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

If you want to hear us talk about these Phase Five and Six movies when they come out, you have to join the Patreon at a $5 or above level, which will get you access to Watch Men, our monthly superhero deep dive podcast.  The latest episode is about Thor: Love and Thunder
