    1.16. The Game - The Documentary Vol.1
    The Game war zu seinen Anfängen wahrscheinlich der frische Wind, der die Westcoast wiederbelebte. Der Blood aus Compton, der von Westcoast-Legenden wie "JT The Bigga Figga" und "Dr. Dre" entdeckt wurde, stieß mit seinem Major-Debüt 2005 auf Anklang in der Szene und erreichte Erfolge auch weit über die Grenzen der Vereinigten Staaten hinaus. Ähnlich wie sein zwischenzeitlicher Weggefährte und späterer Beef-Konkurrent 50 Cent, konnte The Game durch den Support von Dr. Dre's Label "Aftermath Ent."in Zusammenarbeit mit Jimmy Iovine von "Interscope Rec." einen Klassiker für die Szene schaffen. Dieser erinnert zwar musikalisch teilweise an Dr. Dre's "2001" von 1999, steht jedoch durch seinen szenebezogenen Inhalt mit Thematisierungen der präsenten Gang-Kultur für sich alleine und gab der Westcoast einen neuen Touch, der sich von den oftmals eher ausgelassenen oder gesellschaftskritsichen Themen der bisherigen Westcoast abgrenzte, ohne sich von dieser zu distanzieren. Eher wirkt dieses Album mit seinen vielen Verweisen auf andere Künstler wie die öffentliche Vergabe von Respekt. Hört rein!
