Edward St Aubyn - 178 - Alain Elkann Interviews

Edward St Aubyn - 178 - Alain Elkann Interviews

DESIRE FOR FREEDOM. Edward St Aubyn is a British novelist. Five of his books - Never Mind, Bad News, Some Hope, Mother’s Milk and At Last - form the semi-autobiographical Patrick Melrose Novels. In 2018 Benedict Cumberbatch starred in the title role of the five-part drama Patrick Melrose. Edward’s more recent work includes Dunbar - which retells King Lear - and Double Blind, which has been described as 'a book of big ideas, in which the characters experiment with medicine, psychology, narcotics, religion and meditation to understand themselves and find peace. But as cerebral as the book is, it is also deeply felt, because St Aubyn has been thinking about these issues for decades.'

“I spoke in every voice except my own.”

“I had the double relief of having turned myself into Patrick Melrose, and then Benedict Cumberbatch taking over the burden of being Patrick”

“The common driving force of all my work is a desire for freedom”

OMT Magazin #085 | Dunbar Zahlen im Online Marketing – Interaktionen besser verstehen (Sebastian Slawik)
Was haben Interaktionsraten, Markenwahrnehmung, Follower-Kreise gemeinsam?

Paul Laurence Dunbar's 'Sympathy' and exploring poetry, with Leah Crawford

Paul Laurence Dunbar's 'Sympathy' and exploring poetry, with Leah Crawford

In this episode I talk to Leah Crawford, an English in Education consultant, tutor with Let's Think in English and Opening Doors author.  She explores how educators can teach poetry and the callenging aspects of pattern-finding, interpreting mood, music and rhythm.  Leah also introduces us to the poem 'Sympathy', by Paul Laurence Dunbar.  Through this rich and challenging text, pupils can explore different layers of meaning and begin to see how they could use similar linguistic devices in their own creative writing, poetry and storytelling.

We talk about differentiation vs whole-class teaching, 'catch up' and the effectiveness of some of the approaches Leah has experienced through her role.

You can find out more about Leah by following her on Twitter - @think_talk_org or contact her via her webiste - leahcrawford.com

Leah is also a co-author of the Opening Doors series of books, published by crownhouse.co.uk

EP. 13- Texas Life & Bad Wrestling With Heavy Metal Wrestling's Nerd Rock Josh & Dylan Dunbar; Rod Destiny Changes The National Anthem

Gregory Iron sits down with San Antonio-based Heavy Metal Wrestling promoters Dylan Dunbar & Nerd Rock Josh to talk Texas life and bad pro wrestling!

On December 23rd, 2019 Heavy Metal Wrestling will begin streaming all 50 episodes of their unique and entertaining weekly series "Thunder" FOR FREE on Twitch. While Heavy Metal will still be running monthly events, the weekly series came to a close this past November. Promoters and producers "Nerd Rock" Josh Del Barrio and Dylan Dunbar discuss how running weekly shows benefitted Texas wrestling, as well as Heavy Metal's creation.

Dunbar talks entering the business, training under the guidance of Kaientai member and Smackdown's #1 announcer -- Funaki, and Greg and Dunbar discuss an unbelievable incident that occurred between a terrible Texas pro wrestler named "Massive" and a fan sitting front row. Greg talks to Josh about touring with the band "We The Kings," the time he had to run to the video store to let Shawn Michaels borrow a DVD, and that other time he hung out at HBK's mom's house. This trio also discusses some of their favorite terrible pro wrestling matches, wrestler names, and so much more!

Before the podcast, Greg chats with Aaron about his insane travel weekend, going from Chicago to Buffalo on no sleep, wrestling Tommy Dreamer and taking an insane move from the top rope. Aaron discusses his return to pro wrestling commentary for one night only and tells us about the time Rod Destiny decided to change the National Anthem at a wrestling event.

Also, we bring you an all-new "Hulk Hogan Lie of the Week," featuring Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, and sticking with the bad wrestling theme, Greg plays a terrible promo from "Mr. RBI" Izeah Bonds.
