Today we talk about all the ways that God prepares us as God works through us. God has been preparing Tabor Church for a work that we are still trying to figure out and put together. We know that God will do this work...so give us eyes to see and ears to hear.

To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. The seed (the Word of God) is perfect. But the soil (our hearts) is the issue. For where our treasure is, there our heart will be. We can give our physical ears to hear the Word but with a callous heart. If we don't truly value understanding the truth, the knowledge of the secrets of the Kingdom will be hidden. And every seed of truth will be tested in our lives before it can bear fruit. Scripture reference: Matthew 13:3-23

God reveals Himself in some of the most interesting ways. He longs to speak to us everyday and sometimes He uses creation in some very unique ways to make Himself known. Can you hear the rocks crying out? Listen in to this episode of Holy Spirit Feed and you just might. 

God wants you to hear his voice. Of course God speaks, He is literally the Word! (John 1:1). You were created to hear the voice of God (Romans 8:16). God gave you a spirit so you could talk to His Spirit. You were saved to hear the voice of God (Hebrews 8:10).
 
What does the voice of God sound like? 
1 Kings 19:12 “still small voice.” 
Your “silent voice” is your thoughts. God’s voice sounds like your thoughts but from a different source. 
 
Practical Tips for Hearing God’s Voice 
1. Ask.

Draw near to God – the closer you are to Him, the better you hear from Him. 
 
3. Listen.
Psalm 46:10 
In order to hear the Lord, you’ll need to lower the volume of life.

4. Recognize.

Be a sheep! Voice recognition comes through repetition.  
 
5. Confirm.
2 Tim 3:16 
The spoken word and written word work together to clarify and amplify one other.
Confirm the word that was spoken with the word that’s been written. 
 
6. Share.

Are you learning to hear the voice of God?

I’ve been preaching … about being born of the Spirit.  The Holy Spirit makes a powerful and unmistakable impact on the souls He touches.  If you don’t know what I mean, maybe that should tell you something.

I’ve been reading … Luke, the gospel account that presents Jesus as the Master Teacher.  But no matter how great a Teacher He is, it will do us no good if we do not listen. 

I’ve been hearing … Kobe Bryant is coaching youth girls’ basketball, and they’ve come a long way in two years.  The apples are not falling too far from the tree. 

I’ve been playing … City of Spies: Estoril 1942. If you were recruiting people to join Jesus in His resistance against the forces of evil, which approach would you use?  I say, why not all of them?
