Why Does 1/3 of the World Celebrate Easter? (RESCUE: God’s Plan to Save Us, Ep. 03)
Two weeks ago we posted a video on social media, with the question, "What is Easter?" At the time of writing this, it has received over 12,500 views; more than any other video we've posted. This video stirred up a lot of emotions and opinions, leading to comments either accepting or rejecting the Christian celebration of Easter.
The most interesting component of reading the comment streams was the repetition of a simple, yet powerful four-letter word, submitted over and over again. The word was “Amen”; an ancient Hebrew word that has been adopted by dozens of languages, literally translated means “truly” or “so be it”. Why were so many people compelled to open the comment tab and type “Amen” for a short video proclaiming that Easter is centred on the resurrection of Jesus Christ?
The short answer is revealed through statistics. One-third of the world's population identifies as Christian, leading to half of the countries in the world observing the Christian Easter celebration. This week, we'll look at the evidence on why so many people all over the world celebrate Easter and proclaim the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a true and essential fact for every human being, including you. Amen, truly, so be it!
