Show Description: In today's current events, we discuss Samsung's new Wireless Powershare feature, a new social media rule implemented at the NFL level, Amazon's acquisition of Silicon Valley startup Eero and the detrimental effect on Eero's employees, medical misdiagnosis, and the world's most profitable company. We also get into building rapport and different strategies you can use to connect with someone you meet for the first time. Drawing off our experiences in the gym and sales field, we highlight the concept of being aware of your surroundings and using that to start a conversation with someone. Drawing off our readings, we discuss what it means to truly prepare for a prospect or presentation by doing the necessary homework on your audience. We also end the show talking about avoiding "weatherproofing" and knowing the right type of feedback to give someone in order to make them better as a human being. Show Highlights: 3:30-10:20: We get into Samsung's new "Wireless PowerShare" feature for its phones, ear buds, and smart watches. We discuss the benefits of this and compare Samsung and Apple. 10:20-17:00: NFL Coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Kliff Kingsbury, implements a new social media policy for his team this year. We discuss if this makes sense and the bigger screen addiction issue. 17:00-25:00: Amazon recently acquired a silicon valley startup called Eero, which created a state of the art home Wi-Fi system. The top executives of the company profited greatly, but the employees went the opposite direction. We discuss the dangers of being on a company specific stock options plan. 25:00-33:00: We discuss an unfortunate event in Iowa, where a man was misdiagnosed for prostate cancer. This leads us to a discussion about human error and the possibility of more AI in the medical field. 33:00-37:15: We highlight the world's most profitable company, and what makes them so profitable. 37:15-45:00: We get into the topic of breaking the ice and building rapport with people you meet for the first time. Slager talks about a connection he made at the gym, and Tim explains how he makes himself unique from other salespeople when he meets prospects for the first time. 45:00-53:00: Drawing from Harvey Mackay's "Swim with the Sharks," we talk about the importance of doing homework on your audience or prospect before you give a big presentation or interview. We also talk about the roles you play in life outside of your job description. 53:00-1:00:00: Reflecting on what he learned in "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff," Slager leads the discussion about giving feedback in the right way to the important people around you.
