Strength Training with Joint Hypermobility / EDS - Part 1

Strength Training with Joint Hypermobility / EDS - Part 1
This podcast is all about navigating strength training with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and/or joint hypermobility. Welcome to the first episode of Bendy & Strong!

Hi, my name is Annie. I'm a strength coach, exercise scientist, competitive bodybuilder, competitive powerlifter, and I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

My joint hypermobility has had a huge impact on my life and my ability to train. Across the episodes of this podcast, I'm going to be discussing my experiences navigating this. This first episode is a bit of an intro to everything - including my background, and why hypermobility is such an important topic.

P.S. I've had to re-upload this one because I didn't realise the old one got deleted - whoops!

Finding New Purpose After My Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Diagnosis – Cady Bell

Finding New Purpose After My Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Diagnosis – Cady Bell

“God wastes nothing, even disability. He has a purpose for you right where you are.”

After receiving her EMT certification, Cady Bell was on the path to becoming a doctor to use her skills in service overseas. But when she began experiencing severe pain, seizures, stomach issues, and fainting, her life's plan dramatically changed. As Cady searched for the cause of her symptoms, her intensifying health challenges forced her to drop out of school and quit her job.

On the Joni and Friends Ministry Podcast, Cady is sharing her journey to finding a diagnosis for Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a rare connective tissue disorder that affects mobility and strength. This invisible disability that has no cure has brought physical and emotional ups and downs, but has also beautifully deepened her relationship with God—something she wouldn't trade for perfect health. Hear how EDS helped Cady discover new joy and purpose and how she’s using her struggles to reach other women who might feel hopeless in their hardships.

Our first guest is Amy Gonzalez-Nelsen, founder of Bravery Brigade, a movement of collective and collaborative work that aims to acknowledge and highlight the brave, the strong, the changemakers, and the seed planters who are creating new beginnings. Amy is someone who has experienced many levels of highs, lows, successes, and defeats. She's journeyed through divorce, cancer, and death of loved ones and traversed the incredible world of anxiety and mental health. Through all of this she learned to see her bravery and use that to help her find her peace and her joy. She shares her process initiated by NIA, and expanded through intuitive energy healing, reiki and her own form of personal coaching, and she uses this process to help other women step into their new beginnings. She's teaching with Theresa on May 2nd at Anahata to welcome in the New Moon in Taurus. Hudson Valley peeps, come soak up her goodness in person while she's in town!

Our second guest is Holly Glogau Morgan . She is the author of two military adventure novels, Sunrise to Shadows and Midnight to Morning.  Incredibly she’s been writing since she was eight years old from her highly creative imagination. She was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos after graduating college in the beginning of her teaching career.  Her alacrity and self determination is stunning. When she is not writing her book, teaching students, or caring for her husband and herself she is also quilting and volunteering. She is happy to announce that her third novel, Evening to Eternity, is set to be released in June of 2019. She will also be apart of OWS CyCon in May, an indie publishing book show. Best of luck to you Holly!!!

The. Fuck. Down. uitbracht, leidt deze podcast in met een voorgelezen column over genderbias in de geneeskunde.
