ADHD couldn’t be a more popular topic these days, particularly in the world of entrepreneurs, but this episode isn’t here for that.

This is beautiful mish-mash of speaking to an incredible woman doing life changing things and flying far too under the radar for my liking.

Her work is impactful, her drive is inspiring, and I light up like a Christmas tree when I speak to her so I’m pretty sure you will too. Added bonus for the parents of ADHD children.

My lessons totally worth knowing for 2023

Look I learnt some stuff in the last year, as did we all. Are my reflections really ‘that’ profound and worthy of sharing with the world? Maybe not.

But look, it feels pretty self-righteous to say but I did have some significant wins and I feel like I’m allowed to say that because I have had many years of really… not winning at all. So, I get a free pass to preach right?

All jokes aside there is comfort in the normality of day to day storytelling and the lessons that come with it. There are profound moments that come from the most common of daily tragedies and losses.

Here are mine, I wouldn’t share them if I didn’t think you could benefit.

This is what turning 40 looks like  

I know. It’s so hard to believe I’m 40 now. But I’m doing ok, don’t worry. 
Actually 40 couldn’t come at a better time coming out of the worst 2 years of my life. 40 is a milestone for us all and I’m not special. But I wanted to share with you what it looks like for me and how I’ve chosen to mark the occasion. 

I think there is comfort in hearing other people’s stories of life’s challenges and to know you are not alone.  

I kept thinking I needed what I like to call a ‘basement story’ before I could talk about ‘how far I’ve come’. And a ‘basement story’ is the one where you’ve started a business on the bones of your ass in your ‘basement’ (duh) and then gone on to sell it for 40 million dollars.  

But actually just showing up every day and moving forward, even if its at a snails pace…. it’s enough, its more than enough!

My biggest fan girl moment; talking SEO with Neil Patel.

Having Neil Patel on my podcast is the equivalent of any woman on the planet having Beyonce show up to sing at their birthday party.
And whilst I’m normally one for theatrics, in this instance I’m actually serious.
The Wall Street Journal calls him on the most influential marketers on the web, Forbes says he is one of the top 10 marketers, and Entrepreneur Magazine says he created one of the 100 most brilliant companies. He was recognised as a top 100 entrepreneur under the age of 30 by President Obama but most importantly is the creator of all my favourite online tools. AND HE AGREED TO COME ON MY PODCAST...... Dreams do come true!!
To boot Neil is just an incredible human being that we all can all draw strength off. Whether its for digital marketing advice which he makes available and relatable for the average small business owner, or just how to show in life as a bloody good human. As I sat on the tractor going around in circles, sinking a few tinnies with my brother, we got to talking about the local community we grew up in.
A very small town, like many other in rural and regional Australia, that’s survival is weighted on the participation of the community of which it resides in.

Without community and community spirit these towns die. And that’s not an over dramatisation but actual reality. And as far as I’m concerned, the same can be said for small business.
