Emanuel Karlsten fick Stora Journalistpriset i kategorin Årets förnyare 2020 för sin rapportering ”Coronaveckan som gått”, där han sammanfattade veckans nyheter och statistik om pandemins utveckling.

Han inledde sin karriär på tidningen Dagen, har arbetat på Expressen och som nyhetskrönikör i Dagens Nyheter och programledare i Sveriges Radio. Idag är han bland annat kolumnist i Göteborgs-Posten och föreläser om digitalisering.

Utöver sitt arbete i etablerade medier är Emanuel också ordförande i Medieakademin, som varje år publicerar bland annat Förtroendebarometern. Han har också startat flera poddar, bland annat ”Mediepodden” om internet och digitalisering.

Emanuel started out as "Emanuel Nice" in December 1998. They kept that moniker until 2004 where they decided to drop the Nice but keep the full line up while updating their sound which would get them signed to Vagrant Records.

They released their first album, Soundtrack to a Headrush, in March 2005 on Vagrant and toured extensively with bands like Jimmy Eat World, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Aiden,  Keating, From Autumn To Ashes, The Bled, My American Heart, Lorene Drive, Moneen, The Audition and many more.
