In concert, whether they play in front of 10 or 1000 people, their commitment is the same and they don't need to turn up the decibels to make you feel the power of their art ... On les adore ! … Depuis une vingtaine d'années, ce trio anglais est devenu une îcone d'un certain rock DIY, mais les Wave Pictures c'est surtout pour nous un songwriting racé et érudit, et 3 excellents musiciens soudés comme un gang pour l'amour de la musique … En concert, qu'ils jouent devant 10 ou 1000 personnes, leur engagement est le même et ils n'ont pas besoin de faire jouer les décibels à fond pour faire ressentir la puissance de leur art … Bref, un grand groupe de Rock'n'Roll ! … Venez découvrir ici la parole tout aussi généreuse de David Tattersall pour un vrai moment de partage.

Bulle - quelques pensées baladeuses autour de The Smiths "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out"

Ce matin tu es décidé à ne pas laisser la lumière en toi s’éteindre et pourtant tu ne dévieras pas vraiment de ta route même si l’appel à la virée automobile, sans autre but précis que l’envie de fuite, est pressant. Alors tu te laisses embarquer par la douceur vocale de Morrissey, l’emphase de la musique qui la porte, le désespoir qui l’habite. Tu t’allèges peu à peu du poids qui t’encombre et tu fais le voyage espéré. Qu’il ne soit que d’esprit importe peu en fin de compte. Tu laisses la chanson te prendre par la main, s’occuper de tout, tu es prêt à la suivre sur de nombreux chemins vers autant d’endroits encore inconnus de toi. Ce n’est pas tant le plaisir de la découverte que la soif de dépaysement, de perte de repères qui t’attire en ces lieux. Tu ne te soucies pas vraiment qu’ils soient accueillants, juste qu’ils soient différents.  Les paysages contrastés que tu traverses s’estompent peu à peu pour n’être plus que tâches colorées. Tu reviens peu à peu à la substance même de la musique et laisse les violons accompagner ton retour. Tu feras, sans aucun doute à nouveau ce voyage, ta lumière brille encore.  

This morning you are determined not to let the light in you go out and yet you will not really deviate from your path even if the call for a road trip, with no other precise goal than to escape, is pressing. So you let yourself be carried away by Morrissey's sweet voice, the emphasis of the music that carries it, the despair that inhabits it. Little by little, you lighten the weight that encumbers you and you make the hoped-for journey. In the end, it doesn't matter if it's only in spirit. You let the song take you by the hand, take care of everything, you are ready to follow it on many paths to so many places still unknown to you. It is not so much the pleasure of discovery as the thirst for a change of scenery, for a loss of bearings that attracts you to these places. You don't really care that they are welcoming, just that they are different.  The contrasting landscapes you pass through are gradually fading away to become colored spots. You gradually return to the substance of the music and let the violins accompany your return. You will undoubtedly make this journey again, your light still shines.

Combien de temps parcourras-tu encore ce chemin ? combien de mois ? combien d’années ? au fur et à mesure que tu t’en approches, l’échéance semble s’éloigner. Et pourtant tu aimes ce que tu fais, tu es pleinement conscient de toujours avoir eu le choix, de n’avoir jamais été sommé de traverser quelque rue que ce soit pour un hypothétique avenir professionnel. Tu sais ta chance, et ressens foncièrement la détresse de ceux qui subissent la violente arrogance de quelques-uns qui voudraient les voir renier tout libre choix. Tu vois la frustration, tu entends la fureur, tu comprends, oh combien, l’abattement. La philosophie brouillonne qui te sert de conscience te suggère que le réalisme est irrémédiablement du côté des utopies. Pour le moment tu regardes droit devant, tu serres les poings, la colère n’a définitivement pas besoin de beaucoup d’accords.

How much longer will you be on this path? how many months? how many years? as you approach it, the deadline seems to be getting further away. And yet you love what you do, you are fully aware that you have always had a choice, that you have never been asked to cross any street for a hypothetical professional future. You know how lucky you are, and you feel deeply the distress of those who suffer the violent arrogance of a few who would like to see them deny any free choice. You see the frustration, you hear the fury, you understand, oh how much, the despondency.  The muddled philosophy that serves as your conscience suggests that realism is irremediably on the side of utopias. For the moment you look straight ahead, you clench your fists, anger definitely doesn't need many chords.

Michael J. Sheehy is both an artist of immense talent and a summary of the history of rock ... Since the creation of the Dream City Film Club more than 20 years ago, he has walked an often chaotic road, but behind this poisonous flamboyance, this visceral blues or this melancholic appeasement, there is also the journey of a man who is certainly deeply attached to becoming what he is and it's truly a deep joy for us to give you the opportunity to hear this right word.

Michael J. Sheehy, c'est à la fois un artiste au talent immense et un condensé de l'histoire du rock … Depuis la création du Dream City Film Club il y a plus de 20 ans, il a posé ses pas sur une route bien souvent chaotique, mais derrière cette flamboyance vénéneuse, ce blues viscéral ou cet apaisement mélancolique, il y a aussi le parcours d'un homme certainement attaché profondément à devenir ce qu'il est et c'est vraiment une joie profonde pour nous de vous donner à entendre cette parole juste.

What a joy to welcome The Monochrome Set for a VIPop ! ... 40 years of existence for this unclassifiable English band ...Pop ? Rock ? Punk ? New-Wave ? ... Certainly all this at the same time ... Some "Stop & Go", some movements among the musicians, but an always unique style and an intact energy around the singer Bid ... He is the one who answered our questions and he wins to this day the Grand Prix for the most laconic answers among all the episodes of the VIPop Collection ! 😀 ... This band is definitely not like the others ... And we love it !
