#109: WandaVision is Off to a Slow Start, 30 Coins Eps 3-4 and the Night Stalker Documentary (with Liddy Loree)
Craig Elsten and Liddy Loree both like what they've seen in the first Marvel show on Disney+, WandaVision. The question is, will a slow-roll reveal keep viewers around long enough to get to the good stuff? Then, a look at episodes 3 and 4 of the relentlessly entertaining 30 Coins (on HBO), and the straightforwardly spooky Night Stalker documentary on Netflix. In "What We're Watching": The Good Lord Bird, Mr. Mayor and the Tiger HBO documentary.

197: Reviewing Episode 4 of the Animaniacs Reboot

197: Reviewing Episode 4 of the Animaniacs Reboot

It's time for the Animanicast! Discussing the fourth episode of the reboot!

Joey, Nathan and Kelly continue their discussion and review of the Animaniacs reboot. This time they talk about the fourth episode featuring the segments: "Bun Control," "Ex Mousina" and "Bloopf." Listen to hear about all the references you may have missed and find out what the hosts of the Animanicast think about this episode!

    Bun Control

The Warner Bros Studio is visited by salesman Dwayne Lapistol who is handing out bunnies. These "buns" get out of hand very quickly however and before you know it, they've taken over the studio! The Warners try to defeat Lapistol with a cool Anime sequence but end up having to call Australia to control the bun problem. This thinly veiled metaphor for gun control has a few humorous moments and an incredibly disturbing villain. But will the hosts of the Animanicast enjoy it? One of the Animanicast's Australian listeners, "yakkomon" explains some of the Austrailian references found in this episode.

    Ex Mousina

Brain creates a son named Binary Rodent Artificially Intelligent Nanotechnology, or B.R.A.I.N. for short. B.R.A.I.N. helps Brain steal the crown jewels, but after he sees that his father's ego is getting in the way, he decides to remove Pinky and the Brain from the equation.

    Bloopf

The Warners premiere a new app that appears to be parodying Quibi.

    Lessons with Chris Balme

    Lessons with Chris Balme

This episode features a conversation with Chris Balme, Founder of Argonaut, a new live online community that offers young adolescents opportunities for hands-on experiences to develop wisdom, kindness and real-world skill. Chris has founded a handful of successful organizations, all centered on the learning and development of young adolescents, including the Spark Program and Millennium School. His drive to build new and different opportunities for middle schoolers comes in part from his own unhappy experience in those years, and a frustration he has with the low expectations commonly ascribed to middle school.

Chris and Jason talk about Chris's strong feeling that the middle school experience needs to be more relevant for young adolescents and cater to what young adolescents are “here to do,” the advantages of creating a laboratory school in the middle grades with freedom to experiment and then share things of use to the field, his approach to translating the science of learning and development into specific educational practices, and what fuels his unsatiated entrepreneurial proclivities.
