Alex Aster: espresso martini (2 ounces vodka, 1/2 ounce Kahlua, 1 ounce espresso, garnish with 3 coffee beans, serve up)

Alex discusses the oral tradition of storytelling in her family and her Colombian heritage, her dogged efforts to land a literary agent when she was 12-years old, how she skipped her college graduation day to land an agent and a book deal, how she leverages TikTok and other platform to reach millions of readers, and gives an update on her work with Universal and the movie version of Lightlark.

    Preach Baby!

    Preach Baby!

Jordan Hughes, aka the High Proof Preacher sits down with Greg to talk about how exactly a youth pastor winds up publishing a cocktail book in the first place. From photography to a well-traveled instagram to eventually unleashing the Parmesan espresso martini on the world, Jordan’s had quite a legacy in the community and there’s plenty more to come. Plus, are the kids alright? They’re certainly drinking less, but is that necessarily a good thing? "You Shook Gaga" (w/ Matt & Bowen)

"You Shook Gaga" (w/ Matt & Bowen)

Bowen is a little sickstress this week, so he's invited Matt to his new home to record an episode of Las Cultch and contract whatever he has. Stanley cups in hand, the two discuss, well, pop cultural topics! "Such as?" you ask? Well, Chappell Roan and Troye Sivan's latest albums, RHONY, the "sweeps" TV culture of yesteryear, and an oversaturation of the espresso martini. Also, Bowen MET LADY GAGA, Matt has a haunted weekend in Long Island at the Chambers of Hell, and BOWEN MET LADY GAGA. All this, handwriting vs. typing, earnestness vs. earnesty, a live pop songwriting session, and the naming of the Actress of the Millenium. More like OCTOBER flush and OUR flannel cure (the flannel being this episode). Bye!

Bonus episodes are available early for subscribers to Big Money Players Diamond on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/lasculturistas.

Innovators in the Food & Hospitality Industry with Elwood, Thirsty Dice & Twenty One Pips, and Off the Rail

Innovators in the Food & Hospitality Industry with Elwood, Thirsty Dice & Twenty One Pips, and Off the Rail

In episode 232 of Food, Farms, & Chefs Radio Show you'll hear:

0:20~Chef-Owner Adam Diltz is not a stranger when it comes to hard work, and is leading the way as he brings back some of the delectable meals made popular via the Pennsylvania Dutch.  His Fishtown-based restaurant, Elwood offers a tasting experience that few Chefs provide: On his menu, you can enjoy items like his Gobbler's Ridge Farm Rabbit, Pork Tenderloin, and Sturgeon served family-style with seasonal accompaniments.  Or you can enjoy an evening out when he offers a tasting event in collaboration with an author or fellow chef.  No matter when you go, you'll feel sated with not only his plated cuisines--you'll feel filled with an exquisite encounter like no other.

16:18~Our next guest, Matthew Hendricks, takes gaming to another level. When you visit Thirsty Dice in the Fairmont region of Philadelphia, or Twenty One Pips in Ardmore, PA, you'll enter into a space that is geared to having fun!  If you're curious as to what we are speaking of, we're referring to Hendricks' 800+ board games that you can play when you visit either of his locations, and at Twenty One Pips you can play Skee Ball and other throw-back arcade games--all while indulging your palates with foods and beverages to help keep the fun going!

36:00~Then Co-Owner Vince D'Amico of Off the Rail in Media, PA joined us to discuss how he and his fellow co-owners, Tara Duke and Ron Kennedy began the venture, taking over the space which was previously known as Jocelyn's.  An opportunity to take over ownership presented itself, and Duke, Kennedy, and D'Amico seized the chance.  After an unfortunate launch date due to the pandemic, the trio utilized the shut-down to renovate the space.  Now, the area's only roof-top deck provides endless entertainment and opportunities to watch the big game, movies, and more on an enormous projection wall.  If that weren't already enough to draw you in, then perhaps their participation during the summer-long Dining Under the Stars, Karaoke, or Open Mic nights are more your vibe.  Whatever you decide, you'll surely have a great time with good food, great drinks, and endless entertainment!

Bea Bradsell - drinks professional, author, lifelong hospitality enthusiast, and little sister to the espresso martini - sits down with Greg and Damon to talk about getting started behind the bar at an early age, projecting hospitality in all forms (including photo shoots), and what it’s like to find yourself the guardian of a bartending legacy. PLUS: I’m going out for just one drink. We’ve all said it and all of us have been lying. Why do we do this to ourselves and is there some secret appeal to the self deception? Tune in and find out!
