    Proverbs Chapter 3 Part 1

    Proverbs Chapter 3 Part 1
We see that our God who is forever wise, is willing to share with us wisdom, a heavenly wisdom, in order that we can see things with discernment, and that we can make God pleasing decisions. Let me ask you a question. When was the last time that you prayed God helped me to make decisions that are pleasing to You see, what many people do is that we ask God to act in a way that's pleasing to us. That is not faith. That is not spiritual maturity. Episode 18: AI Reality Check: Battling Bias
From high school students given the wrong marks just as they’re applying to university to Black defendants misclassified as higher risk for reoffending, AI is driving unfair and damaging outcomes. Technology firms promise what they call Responsible AI. But can they really deliver if they can’t keep up with the speed of change? Can governments impose ethical standards and safe use of AI-based systems and products? In this episode, Anton Ovchinnikov, Distinguished Professor of Management Analytics at Smith School of Business, discusses his groundbreaking research into the government response to algorithmic bias and what happens when large language models are fed AI-generated synthetic content rather than human-generated content. He is joined in conversation by host Meredith Dault. Special Guest: Anton Ovchinnikov.

Set The Standards And Use them

Set The Standards And Use them

Are you truly living in alignment with your principles and values? In today's episode of Navigate the Day, we delve into the wisdom of Epictetus and explore the importance of setting ethical standards and, more importantly, using them in our daily lives.

Epictetus reminds us that philosophy isn't just about understanding and establishing standards; it's about applying those standards consistently. As we reflect on this Stoic teaching, we ask ourselves a crucial question: "Have I set my standards, and am I using them?"

Many of us may find that while we strive for honesty, compassion, and empathy, there are moments when we falter. Our host shares personal insights into areas where ethical standards may have shifted over time and where growth is needed.

From personal relationships to the workplace, this episode encourages us to be more intentional about our values and how we express them. Through self-reflection and self-improvement, we can work towards being better partners, friends, and colleagues.

Join us on this journey of self-discovery and ethical living. As we learn to navigate life's complexities, we'll find that embracing our standards not only benefits us but also contributes to a more compassionate and understanding world.

Tune in to Navigate the Day and discover the power of setting and using your ethical standards to lead a more fulfilling and virtuous life.

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!

Deuteronomy 24-27 | Caring for the Poor

Deuteronomy 24-27 | Caring for the Poor

Deuteronomy 24-27 contains various laws and regulations that cover a range of topics, including divorce, social justice, and the covenant between God and His people. Throughout these chapters, the importance of caring for the poor and destitute is emphasized as a central aspect of God's character and His expectations for His people.

In Deuteronomy 24, laws are established concerning divorce and the treatment of those who are vulnerable, including widows, orphans, and migrant workers. The Israelites are reminded of the importance of treating these individuals with dignity and respect, and of providing for their basic needs. These laws reflect God's heart for the poor and marginalized, and emphasize the importance of social justice as an integral part of His covenant relationship with His people.

Deuteronomy 25 contains regulations concerning justice and fairness in economic transactions, as well as laws governing marriage and family relationships. Again, the importance of caring for the vulnerable is emphasized, particularly in the laws concerning the gleaning of fields and the treatment of widows and orphans. These laws demonstrate God's concern for the economic and social well-being of His people, and emphasize the importance of using one's resources to care for those in need.

Deuteronomy 26 contains instructions for the presentation of the firstfruits of the land as an offering to God, and a declaration of gratitude and faithfulness to God. The Israelites are reminded that all they have comes from God, and that they are to use their resources to care for those in need and to support the work of the temple and the priesthood. Again, the importance of caring for the poor and destitute is emphasized as a central aspect of God's character and expectations for His people.

Deuteronomy 27 contains instructions for the Israelites to build an altar and make offerings as a sign of their covenant relationship with God. The Israelites are reminded of the importance of obedience and faithfulness to God's commands, and of the consequences of disobedience. While the focus of this chapter is not explicitly on caring for the poor, the underlying principles of justice, mercy, and compassion are still central to God's expectations for His people.

Overall, Deuteronomy 24-27 emphasizes the importance of caring for the poor and destitute as a central aspect of God's character and expectations for His people. Through the laws and regulations established in these chapters, the Israelites are reminded of their responsibility to treat the vulnerable with dignity and respect, and to use their resources to care for those in need.
