    147. Walking With Your Wounded Child

Welcome back to the kitchen table. As mothers, one of our most challenging experiences is watching our children navigate difficult seasons. The pain of seeing them struggle with loss, loneliness, and emotional hurt can be overwhelming, and so often, we find ourselves entrenched in their pain. In today's episode, Bethany guides listeners through the process of letting go and walking alongside our children without becoming entangled in their pain.

The challenges our children face, whether bullying, shattered dreams, or the turmoil of friendships, deeply affect us. As parents, our hearts ache when they hurt. But it's important to remember that we aren't meant to fix every situation. Perfection isn't the goal of parenting; instead, it's about being a steadfast presence that embodies trust and faith rooted in scripture.

While we can't remove all obstacles from our children's paths, we can equip them with truth from scripture and remind them of God's commitment to navigate these challenges. These reminders keep us grounded in our faith, providing guidance and wisdom when navigating difficult situations. Bethany shares word pictures and scriptures to share with your children to strengthen their spiritual foundation and support them in their struggles.

Remember, your role isn't to create a perfect childhood but to provide unwavering support as they follow their path, guided by the Holy Spirit.

    181. Deep Waters: Surrender

    181. Deep Waters: Surrender

The journey of surrender is not always easy, but it can lead to profound healing, peace, and courage. Today, I invite you into deep waters with two visuals that have served as metaphors within my own life.

These metaphors have become tender spaces in the hearts of myself and my husband guiding us through life's challenges with the help of the Holy Spirit. I invite you to reflect on these metaphors and their meaning in your life and consider the importance of surrender.

We come to realize that life fully happens when we let go and surrender. Trusting God and knowing that he deeply loves us lays the foundation for walking in the deeper waters of faith and purpose. Embrace surrender with an open heart, and you will find the strength, peace, and love needed to navigate life's ever-changing tides. May this journey of surrender lead you to a profound encounter with the Holy Spirit.

    139. Building Our Foundation: Parenting Moody Teenagers

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week on the Warrior Mama Podcast, Bethany continues her summertime series, and today she welcomes listeners into parenting tweens and teens. Parenting moody kids can be undeniably challenging, but it's important to remember that you are not alone in this journey. Bethany reminds listeners of the importance of building a foundational rock through scripture and six principles that offer God's strength.

Society offers suggestions and advice for parenting your moody teens, from remaining calm to refraining from over-punishing. But, as mothers, we instantly feel defeat and failure when the advice doesn't work and the enemy preys on these motions of weakness. And today, Bethany offers you hope, encouragement, and the reminder that anchoring yourself in God's truth and the six principles will help you meet your children with more connection, grace, a stronger relationship, and a more solid foundation to build upon these principles.

Bethany gives listeners three pivotal questions to ask themselves when met with a teenager who is moody, angry, or wants to be left alone. Remember, it's a challenging phase, but with perseverance and support from God, you can navigate through it and foster a stronger parent-child relationship.

    137. 6 Ways We Anchor Our Motherhood in Gospel

    137. 6 Ways We Anchor Our Motherhood in Gospel

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week on the Warrior Mama Podcast, Bethany continues bringing listeners into a summertime series about motherhood through the lens of the Gospel. Our culture offers remedies, societal norms as well as pressure in motherhood. Bethany brings advice and encouragement and breaks down concepts in motherhood that we have accepted.

From moody teenagers to sibling fights, we all encounter big and small moments of motherhood where we need support, answers, and guidance. In today’s episode, Bethany introduces six principles that offer God’s strength so that you can instead look at the opinions of God rather than the opinions of society. Through these six principles, we anchor in God’s word but also remember that while we have a job in parenting, we need to partner with God because he knows our child intimately.

Bethany reminds listeners of the importance of rooting ourselves in these principles so that when we tackle the big moments in motherhood, we can offer grace, repentance, and forgiveness but also turn to God for wisdom and guidance because his word is rich. He wants to walk in motherhood with you so that you can pivot your children back to him and his promises in the word.

    129. Understanding Motherhood as an Investment Pt. 1

    129. Understanding Motherhood as an Investment Pt. 1

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Bethany invites listeners to look at their lives from an investment standpoint through the gospel lens. Life gets busy, and we fill our time, but are we filling it with Kingdom purpose?

Bethany is breaking down the concept of investment through her experiences, knowledge, and scripture to help listeners understand this concept more deeply. Through the mundane and busy day-to-day, it can feel that the Lord isn’t there, but he is, and he’s invested, so how can we ensure that we live our lives purposefully?

Bethany uses word pictures and a familiar phrase in her home to help you see where you are pouring into with intention and what it means for your family, motherhood, marriage, and walk with Jesus.

    107. When My Christmas Expectations Meet Jesus

    107. When My Christmas Expectations Meet Jesus

Welcome back to the kitchen table. We are in the midst of the holiday season, and it’s easy to become swept up in the societal expectations of the season, whether it’s the perfect Christmas tree, the most decorated house, or the abundance of holiday experiences. We often search for happiness and joy in the Christmas season but for the wrong reasons.

In today’s episode, Bethany gives listeners the ultimate reminder when they feel inadequate and overwhelmed by the expectations of the perfect Christmas. Bethany encourages listeners to set their eyes on the true reason for Christmas. As a society, we hope for happiness in an event, but Jesus invites us to find contentment in him.

Bethany takes listeners through personal experiences and Gospel truth to set firm in the understanding that he is the light and that we can worship him in fullness. We can trickle this into your children when we stand grounded in these beliefs. His expectations of us are rest and contentment, not the perfect holiday experience.

    61. When Mistakes Mount Up: Applying the Gospel to Our Mom Mistakes

    61. When Mistakes Mount Up: Applying the Gospel to Our Mom Mistakes

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany sits down with Jennifer Pepito for a fantastic conversation on battling feelings of fear, guilt, and shame when it comes to mistakes. Not only mistakes that we make as parents but also walking through our children’s mistakes.

As moms, we battle with fear, especially when it comes to parenting. And, when our children make mistakes, we can instantly experience guilt, embarrassment, and failure. Both Bethany and Jennifer provide a wealth of wisdom on how we can combat those feelings and how we can join our children and walk through mistakes without shame. But instead by applying grace and forgiving ourselves.

Parenting isn’t perfect, but God did not intend it to be. And, he doesn’t shame us when we make mistakes. It’s a calm conversation. In moments where we meet our children with shame, rage, and big emotions, we can step back and ask God for forgiveness and turn to scripture to guide us through our mistakes.

We are often overcome by fear when we raise our children because we want them to love God, have a happy life, and follow Jesus. And, oftentimes we focus on behavior and performance, and fear mistakes. Where instead we can learn to walk by their side offering  reconciliation and forgiveness when your child might fall from the path. But, with the Gospel and Jesus, we can remind ourselves that we are beloved by him and extend this grace to our children.

Bethany welcomes you to share some of your favorite moments or maybe some of your most difficult moments of motherhood.

    57. Parenting Intentionally in Overwhelming Moments Part 1

    57. Parenting Intentionally in Overwhelming Moments Part 1

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany is addressing the question, how can I be intentional with my kids when I am feeling burnt out? Many moms out there are probably feeling this way, you want to teach, have meaningful conversations, and plan fun activities. But, at the end of the day you feel defeated, burnt out, and you don’t have the energy. Bethany is walking in the same exact shoes, but she gives guidance, encouragement and scripture to help you find a middle ground.

When we let the Holy Spirit tend to us, it begins to reframe our minds to be set on the gospel. God is the only one who can fill us when we feel defeated, and overwhelmed in motherhood.

Bethany shares how she must see, hear, and constantly be reminded of the truth that Jesus says. She engages with the five truths when she reaches feelings of overwhelm, anger, or resentment.

The Five Truths When Life Feels Crazy

    • God Chose You- Matthew 11:28-29
    • God Engages and Listens- Psalm 116: 1-2 & Psalm 66:19
    • God Leads and Equips You- Isaiah 42:16 & Isaiah 40:11
    • God Has Compassion on You- Psalm 103: 13-14
    • God Brings Peace- Psalm 62: 1-2 & 1 Peter 1:2

In moments of mess, God has compassion for you, he longs to help you and will be your peace.

    56. Table Talk with the Kimsey Daughters Part One: Overcoming Perfectionism

    56. Table Talk with the Kimsey Daughters Part One: Overcoming Perfectionism

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany invites you to sit down with her and her three daughters, Kendall, Abby Grace, and Anna Claire. For the next few weeks, Bethany sits down with her girls to have conversations on how moms and daughters can interact and how the gospel plays into their relationship.

They visit how different temperaments, struggles, world experiences, and scenarios play a vital role. Bethany hopes this is a time where you as a mom can understand a bit more clarity on how you can partner and walk with God as he engages and guides your children on their journey.

Bethany and her daughters discuss five concepts that will guide their conversations throughout the next few weeks. The girls share how they struggled, combatted, and persevered.

    • Identity: Understanding where you find identity and where you are tempted to find an identity.
    • Comparison: What does it look like? How does it motivate and blind you?
    • Perfectionism: How does it play into your mindset.

    55. Lies of Motherhood- Control

Welcome back to the kitchen table. This week Bethany continues her talk about the lies that we face in motherhood, especially the lie that says “you have to control it all”.

As a mama you are faced with so many questions, what ifs, and the feeling that if you do not control it all then you will fail. Are you struggling with the need to control and overprotect which spirals into layers of anxiety?  Join Bethany as she talks about the anchors in God’s word that will help you believe and trust in him as he walks by your side in even the toughest days of motherhood.

God wants mamas to pray about all the things they question in motherhood, he is there to equip you with the wisdom you need. Most importantly, God chose you for your child.

As featured in today’s episode, here are the journal pages to help you identify the lies that you’re hearing and change the way you are thinking. https://view.flodesk.com/pages/60d0e421cfb7978901ae2e93
