SQUAWK BOX, THURSDAY 10TH JUNE, 2021

We are live in Falmouth, Cornwall for the G-7 summit where leaders are set to meet. U.S. President Biden and UK Prime Minister Johnson are to re-hash the Atlantic Charter - a WW2-era Churchillian pact between the two countries – to strengthen trade, travel and technology ties. G-7 nations are hoping to use the meeting to pledge a billion Covid vaccines to distribute globally with the U.S. to provide more than half of the doses. We hear exclusively from Goldman Sachs CFO Stephen Scherr who says markets may well feel the heat should rates rise to address inflation. In tech news, President Biden revokes a Trump-era executive order banning Chinese-owned social media apps. He has, however, ordered a security review of the software which could yet bolster the legislation.

    Yasmine Fosu - activist

    Yasmine Fosu - activist

Yasmine is a world class fencer, one of the leaders of Truro's Black Lives Matter protests and she has helped feed many of Falmouth's homeless people. She's currently studying international politics at Exeter University's Penryn campus.

She talks candidly about the shocking racism she has experienced since moving here and the education campaign she's hoping will help turn the tide on racism in Cornwall.

George Floyd's death made Yasmine think again about what she's prepared to put up with in her own life and has caused her to break off some friendships. She has also launched a petition calling on the National Trust to commemorate the lives of slaves at Tregnwainton Gardens near Penzance

EP 109. Robin Vinnicombe, Falmouth Mako's

EP 109. Robin Vinnicombe, Falmouth Mako's
Recorded in 2012. From his first Mako encounter in the late 1950's up to the last ever British Mako Shark catch in 1971 which was aboard his Falmouth based boat 'Huntress', Robin Vinnicombe accounted for 1 in 3 of all Mako Sharks ever landed from UK waters. Now well into his 70's and wheelchair bound following a stroke, here he guides us through a detailed look at how he achieved what he did with this most enigmatic and highly prized angling Shark species.
