Today's video features Joel Salatin sharing some valuable insight on how to increase income and profitability on a small farm. This video talks about diversifying and building multiple income streams on your farm. This is a basic principle in business and one that nearly every Millionaire takes hold of. Diversity of income streams is a hedge against disaster on farm. It creates a safety net of income that will catch you when any one enterprise struggles. Diversity of income on farm makes the startup losses bearable and cuts risk that accompanies ranching. Whether your diversification means more animals, or maintaining a full time job, I hope this video encourages you on your farming for profit journey!

This video features an article written by Rory Groves, author of the Durable Trades. It speaks of the impending American fertilizer shortages and how they are set to heighten the food crisis in 2022. This is a video addressing the CHEMICAL fertilizers nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. What may or may not be known is that animal manure contains these fertilizer elements in varying ratios! In addition to fertilizer, animal manure contains high amounts of carbon (organic matter) which increases soil fertility in ways that chemical fertilizers cannot. It is time to face the economic crisis by pursuing highly personalized solutions for our families and communities. Soil health is vital! Invest in it where you can.

How I Found Customers For My Farm

This podcast talks about how to find customers for your farm business. It outlines how you can plan ahead and find these customers for your farm business before you invest a ton of money in livestock! I also talk about how there is a time and place to ditch the farm business plan and take a risk… get going on your farm even if you don’t have it all figured out. This video also talks about my farm business plan and marketing for my Dorper Sheep. I direct market all of my sheep straight off of my farm using my website (shepherdessdorpers.com) and social media.

HOW TO LOSE ALL YOUR MONEY SHEEP FARMING

HOW TO LOSE ALL YOUR MONEY SHEEP FARMING

This video outlines some serious profit killers in sheep farming operations: the ones we encountered and 3 diseases you want to watch out for when buying sheep for your sheep farm. While sheep offer many advantages to today’s micro ranchers, the risks involved in sheep farming also need to be considered. My farm is a Dorper Sheep breeding stock operation. I am located in upper East Texas (the native tall grass prairie region) where we receive above average sunlight and rainfall. This rainfall and sunlight ratio really plays into the carrying capacity of my 23 acre farm.

    Thank you for watching!

    SHEEP VS. COWS VIDEO

This PODCAST breaks down the gross revenue potential that sheep and beef cattle provide for my 23 acre farm business. As you watch this video please remember that it directly applies to my sheep farming business.

Use it as inspiration for your farm business, but understand that it is not a copy and paste solution for you. I originally planned to sell grass fed beef for profit, but after crunching the numbers I found that their smaller cattle counterpart (sheep) provided 400% greater revenue potential and 200% faster return on investment.
