Super Dave, has been a detective for the last 6 years and has spent more than 17 years as an active street cop. He was born in NYC and raised in Eastern Long Island. 

He initially joined the Police Department with the single intent to support his young family but In order to do that, he worked a lot of overtime and  family life sometimes suffered because of that.

This episode of Petey Podcast, recorded earlier in October (2021), features Elyria Township Fire Chief Russ Scarbrough and Assistant Chief Art Mead. Elyria Township Fire is an staunch partner of the Elyria Schools and an excellent teacher of safety to our little learners at the Elyria Early Childhood Village and Westwood Elementary School. The Chief and Assistant Chief chatted with us about the work of firefighters every day and their work through these unprecedented times of COVID-19.  At the end of the day, first responders do what they do for love of the work.  "We love helping people," said Mead.  "I can't think of a single person that's on our department who isn't working more than one job--some have two, some even have three--while they are doing this just because it's the passion that they have  for what we do."

Jim Reidy was a Lieutenant on Ladder 46 for the San Antonio Texas Fire Department (SAFD) where he was a firefighter for 33 years. He was also an Assistant Safety Officer and was the SAFD Quartermaster in 2018. He was involved in PPE for 30 of his 33 years and served as Co- Chairman of the SAFD/Local 624 Firefighting PPE Committee, as a member of the SAFD Occupational Cancer Committee, Tool and Equipment Committee, and Apparatus Committee.

Jim is a member of the NFPA 1971-1851 Committee representing the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters. He currently serves as Helmet Task Group Chair for the next edition of NFPA 1971. He serves on the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Firefighter Advisory Committee as a member and past Chairman and is a Firefighter Cancer Support Network Rep in South Texas.

He also speaks at a variety of venues and events on Firefighter PPE Risk Assessment, Use, and Selection along with Firefighter Cancer Prevention and is known as a vocal advocate for firefighter health and safety.

Battalion Chief Keys completed a total of 31 years of service, beginning as a firefighter for a high volume station in the Bronx. As a Captain and Lieutenant, he served various municipalities including Midtown Manhattan, until settling into East New York Brooklyn, where he became Battalion Chief. William Wood was the name the founder’s late grandfather. He served in the British Fire Service for 25 years winning commendations for his acts of bravery. Today the watchmaker’s vision is to be a leading sustainable watch brand that upcycles rescue service materials for a new life, whilst giving back to relevant charities. We sit down with Jonny Garrett, the CEO and Founder of William Wood Watches ahead of the launch of their new Automatic Valiant Collection available this December. They have created a watch with upcycling elements never before seen on a watch e.g. the straps are made from cast off Angus Duraline British fire hose rubber which has provided over 10 years of service to the UK Fire & Rescue community (you can still smell the smokiness in the rubber!) They have also melted down an original 1920s British brass firefighter’s helmet and set it inside the watch crown. The melting is all done in the heart of London’s prestigious jewellery district of Hatton Garden.
