    Episode 489 John Rusciano NG0Z

    Episode 489 John Rusciano NG0Z

John Rusciano, NG0Z, knew that eventually living in an HOA would meet he and his family’s needs, even if it meant not having a ham radio station and outside antennas. The state of the art and ubiquitous Internet connectivity made it possible for John to build his ultimate remotely controlled amateur radio station at his vacation home, away from the city's electronic noise and the restrictions of HOA.  NG0Z allows me to interrogate him about all of the aspects of building his remote station in this QSO Today.

    Its a Flex Intervention

    Its a Flex Intervention

This episode, Ryan will be hosting and he plans on discussing Flex ownership with Todd and Eric. They will share their personal experiences using the device and go into detail about its capabilities. However, it seems like it might turn into an intervention because true friends don't let their friends own JUST Icom radios alone....

    Technical note:
We apologize for some of the Audio coming from Eric's mic, as he addressed in the show his old sound mixer was in the process of getting replaced.

He earned a Ph.D. in Music from Princeton University and has been involved in computer science and signal processing since 1970. He was an early pioneer in development of Software Defined Radio for the US Government, and later by private industry, and was the Co-deleloper of PowerSDR software with Bob McGwier, N4HY.   Frank is also a classical music composer and has his written compositions performed worldwide. AB2KT is my QSO Today in this remastered audio version of the original interview.

Episode 413 Connor Black, W4IPC, and CJ Pokowitz, WW0CJ

While many of us "old timers" may think we know what drives youth interest in amateur radio, a discussion with Conner Black, W4IPC, and CJ Pokowitz, WW0CJ, today's amateur radio youth leaders, may lead us to believe that old timer "value propositions" for ham radio do not resonate with today's youth.  Join Eric and his guests in this discussion of how to potentially increase our numbers in this QSO Today.

    Episode 267 Burt Fisher K1OIK

    Episode 267 Burt Fisher K1OIK

Burt Fisher, K1OIK,  raised a stir and perhaps the ire of many hams with a 2008 YouTube video critical of amateur radio operators and their operating practices. While it is easy these days to have conversations with anyone who shares our opinions and beliefs,  it is more difficult to have conversations with people who do not share our views. K1OIK tells his ham radio story and shares his opinions that led to the controversial video and the rest of the story in this QSO Today.

    Episode 057 Gerald Youngblood K5SDR

Who could imagine that an offer to build fifty experimental SDR radios called the SDR1000 would turn into an order for five-hundred units in the first year launching Gerald Youngblood, K5SDR, into the SDR business.  FlexRadio Systems was launched,  in 2003, on the kitchen table of K5SDR's Austin, Texas house to become the premier ham radio supplier of turn-key SDR radios.  Gerald joins Eric, 4Z1UG, in this episode of QSO Today.
