John Rusciano, NG0Z, knew that eventually living in an HOA would meet he and his family’s needs, even if it meant not having a ham radio station and outside antennas. The state of the art and ubiquitous Internet connectivity made it possible for John to build his ultimate remotely controlled amateur radio station at his vacation home, away from the city's electronic noise and the restrictions of HOA.  NG0Z allows me to interrogate him about all of the aspects of building his remote station in this QSO Today.

This episode, Ryan will be hosting and he plans on discussing Flex ownership with Todd and Eric. They will share their personal experiences using the device and go into detail about its capabilities. However, it seems like it might turn into an intervention because true friends don't let their friends own JUST Icom radios alone....

Dr. Frank Brickle, AB2KT, was my guest in Episode 212, in August of 2018, five years ago.  He is both a musical composer and a technology expert. He earned a Ph.D. in Music from Princeton University and has been involved in computer science and signal processing since 1970. Bill Levy, N2WL, operates from his apartment in New York City,  and from a remotely controlled FlexRadio station in Colorado,  as part of a network of remotely controlled stations available for hire.  As a kid, Bill paid for his ham radio hobby by running  Wall Street, and he did a stint as a wildlife photographer for Time-Life and Partridge Films, while operating as a DX entity from  Africa.  N2WL tells his ham radio story in this QSO Today.

Burt Fisher, K1OIK,  raised a stir and perhaps the ire of many hams with a 2008 YouTube video critical of amateur radio operators and their operating practices. While it is easy these days to have conversations with anyone who shares our opinions and beliefs,  it is more difficult to have conversations with people who do not share our views. Glenn Johnson, W0GJ, began his ham radio journey as a teenager and from his love for chasing DX, has since been to many DX entities around the world including Heard Island, an attempt last year to land on Bouvet Island, and an upcoming DXpedition later this year to Pitcairn Island.  Glenn’s interest and determination to provide these rare DX entities along with this DXpedition group, is worth the weeks at sea, sometimes in terrible conditions. Glenn was able to break from his preparations for Pitcairn to spend this QSO Today.
