Ep 165: Karin Farfan, Raising The Quality of Your Life With Nutrition

Episode 165  - Health Heroes!  Ever since I attended the Hippocrates Wellness Center in West Palm Beach Florida in 2011 I keep meeting others that have also been there. One of those people is Karin Farfan. Karin was an actress from Columbia that decided to go plant based to improve her health and it worked in the beginning but long term her health started suffering slightly and became underweight. Then after advice from some friends she ended up attending Hippocrates Wellness Center which is also plant based. Karin quickly learned the difference between living foods like sprouts versus raw foods and cooked foods. Once she started adding in living foods she started gaining back her healthy weight and her overall health improved dramatically. Now she is a full time health coach in Miami helping people live their best life. Besides the coaching she also does food prep for people in her local area. What I liked about her story was that she was one of the few people that really embraced health before there was a major issue. We are seeing that more and more today which is refreshing, where people aren't waiting until they are super sick to change. Thank you for listening, please subscribe and share this podcast if you like the content and think it could benefit someone you know. Love & Light -Coach Tim. How To Get Your Grocery Bill Under Control

How To Get Your Grocery Bill Under Control

Show Summary: “Eating healthy: let’s pop the myth that it’s expensive and hard. Inexpensive healthy meals can be done right with proper skills and knowledge.”

Healthy habits can begin with the food that we eat. And sometimes, we’re daunted by the tremendous amount of tasks before us just to achieve our health goals.

What kind of food should we buy? Where can we access inexpensive organic fruits and vegetables? Are healthy meals complicated to make?

One way or another, we’ve asked ourselves these questions many times, and more often than not, these questions can be intimidating - and then we start to doubt ourselves.

Worry not! Episode 28 of the Gutsy Health Podcast is here to lay down all the recommendations for you to become a meal planning Pro. And it doesn’t have to be tricky. It doesn’t take a lot of work either. You don’t necessarily have to be a Michelin Star chef to create sumptuous and healthy meals for you and your family.

In this episode, we emphasize the importance of meal planning and food prepping, and that leftovers are more nutrient-dense than what we get from big fast-food restaurants. I guarantee you that this will make your meal planning a lot easier and hassle-free!

Tune in to this episode and become an advocate of healthy healing for you and your family. Because shifting away from the mindset that eating healthy is time-consuming and that it takes a lot of work may seem unthinkable but this is the best way to nurture, nourish, and heal our bodies.

    Changing old habits

    Juanique 9:10

    • You need to get out of your way to prioritize eating healthy and make a habit of it, just like how brushing your teeth and showering are part of your daily habits.

    Inexpensive healthy food

    Gina 23:04

    • The sandwiches that we pick up in coffee shops may seem reasonably priced. But if we replace it with an omelet with spinach and avocado, we will find that those ingredients are much cheaper and healthier than those store-bought sandwiches.

How is eating inexpensive healthy food related to our health?

    Juanique 24:57

    • The amount and effort it takes for us to prepare organic and healthy meals are a lot cheaper than when we get hospitalized and under medications because of an illness that resulted from our neglect of food consumption.

Admired - Cultivating a Deeper Connection in the Kitchen

Admired - Cultivating a Deeper Connection in the Kitchen

Today, I will be exploring the topic of cultivating a deeper connection to the kitchen and some tools and resources to inspire you. A kitchen is a place of refuge for me as it satiates my internal and external cravings. It’s one form of working my muscle of creativity and expressing myself through different dishes, teas, ferments, stews, and long table dinners. You can often find me multitasking between cooking one meal, tasting another, soaking grains for the next meal, all the while wading through the kitchen in my velvet slippers and dancing to some old album. It is truly a sight to see ut something that I have learned to cultivate over the years. Like every other relationship, the kitchen works if you work it, and it desires affection, space, attention, and cocreation.

There is the kitchen and then there’s you, but there is also this space between you and the kitchen and that is where the magic truly happens. Nobody really questions how a few eggs, oil, flour, water, and spices become a cake, it’s alchemy and essentially you are the midwife that gets to bring this to life. You can spend years afraid to step foot into the kitchen for fear of messing up or the vast pressure to create something exquisitely magical so you neglect the one place we all have the potential to excel. These next words may sound funny, but begin by giving your kitchen a name for just today. I like to call mine Gertrude, maybe a homage to my great-grandma and her love of baking, so go ahead think of a name and introduce yourself. Greet your pots and pans with a firm handshake, and begin. We are all born fluent in the language of the kitchen yet sometimes we just need to be reminded how simple it truly is.
