AN-25: Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The First Plate

It's here! It's finally here!! The first installment of our "Food, Fate, Fire, and Fetish" month!! On this episode we break down 2 whole OST's worth of music...not cause we wanted, but because we know you wanted it...also because that's what season 1 gave us and we rolled with it.

In this episode, we give you the intro you've always wanted, the breakdown of music that felt kind of stale but also rocks your face off. And then some tracks that really put you in the middle of a kitchen setting. It's awesome. We know.  Garrett somehow incorporated an audio psychology lesson, so that may be worth your time. (lol) Regardless of anything, this was a fun episode to record and share with you especially on the culinary aspect from Emily being incorporated into the music as well. All around fun and we hope you enjoy it. There's more where this comes from in November!!! Gobble gobble, bitch.

This leads to the debate on how streaming services will become more demanding from their customers. EstoBro brings back an old memory with Young Jaimé about the first Food Wars they ever debated that was over the top breakfast cereal brands (49:25). Neo Yokio

    Neo Yokio

Neo Yokio is a Netflix anime and also quite possibly the most unlikely intersection of top-notch Hollywood talent to ever collaborate on a project. It was created Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig and features the voices of Jaden Smith, Jude Law, Susan Sarandon, Desus & Mero, Jason Schwartzman, and Richard Ayoade. It's also pretty boring. Or is it? Special guest Terry Obeng takes the stand to defend Neo Yokio's honor.

EstoBro returns the favor by having Ian "The Controversity" Elliott-Carter on the podcast after being featured on his channel! The pair look back on how they met each other, especially when EstoBro highlights a tweet that discusses relative subjects on the matter (2:55). TV comes in hot to break down the remainder of the NBA Finals, hinting that the Milwaukee Bucks will definitely come back from being down two games (9:15), which they accomplish post-recording of the show. The focus of basketball remains the primary topic of the show after discussing the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy (17:05) and how EstoBro and the Controvesity have their own review about the film. The Gents come together to discuss the finale of Loki and the grand reveal of Kang the Conqueror (45:45) and make predictions on what the villain's impact will be on the MCU. The show wraps with the return of the Food Wars (63:30), as the Gents decide which hot sub-sandwich is more superior: the French dip or the Philly Cheesesteak.

A long-awaited reunion between the Gents and Lebanon Don of the 4Nerds1Podcast to bring another edition of the EstoBro TV Podcast. EstoBro, Lebanon Don, and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named reflect over the weekend about their high school reunion, which TV managed to escape a weekend full of Italian festivities (4:15). TV starts the sports segment of the show to recap what happened over UFC 263 (13:05) and the Gents get hyped on what is starting with Euros 2020 starting one year later after COVID-19 (19:30). EstoBro interrupts the entire appreciation of the soccer tournament with some breaking news (30:15) that ties it in with the, "What's wrong with baseball?" edition of the segment. eSports is making their major presence known in the entertainment world with the FaZe Clan making it onto the cover of Sports Illustrated (41:00), which leads to a very interesting debate on how to move streaming effectively for everyday broadcasting. In the ripple effects of E3 taking place over the week, the Gents look into another video game article that discusses bringing old video game franchises back to life (63:50). The Gents bring up a new topic in the Food Wars: shawarma vs. gyro in the street food series. (78:45) TV defends the honor of the gyro and Lebanon Don holds the line that represents the shawarma for the listeners of the podcast to decide.

    Dave Loses All Credibility

EstoBro hits TV with a fresh take on the Paul Brothers getting involved in boxing and why they're truly doing it during the cold open. After the formalities and introduction of the show, the fellas get to the business about what is happening during the Stanley Cup Playoffs (12:15), followed by breaking down the craziness of fans acting up during the NBA Playoffs (34:40). TV is ecstatic that the Tampa Bay Rays had a more than impressive month of May taking first place (52:25), and EstoBro does not hold his tongue on how he feels about their opponent; the New York Yankees. With the month of June arriving, the Gents discuss the return of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or better known as E3 (63:10), and the possibilities of eSports making a huge impression that the event will also hold a competitive event. The Gents also bring attention to the 'Food Wars' debates heating up in the Facebook group, EstoBro encourages the debates even further with chips and dip vs. bread as an appetizer (77:15). Finally, the Gents shed some light on the choice of Naomi Osaka withdrawing from the French Open (89:15) and the reason why she is choosing to nurture her mental health, and why this is important for athletes.

Izzy Takamono of the 4Nerds1Podcast joins the Gents of EstoBro TV Podcast for this week's episode of the podcast. The Gents wish TV a belated birthday and reflect on their week before jumping in immediately with the aftermath of the NBA play-in before the playoffs (7:05), an update on the Tampa Bay Lightning striking their rivalry hard with the Florida Panthers in the opening round of the playoffs (13:40), and the return of the unwritten rules in "What is wrong with baseball?" segment (23:00). Izzy chimes in on the ongoing wing debate on the show (40:15) on the munchies segment before talking kitchen secrets and the actual anime called Food Wars. The collective reflects on the passing of Kentaro Miura (52:00), talking about his magnum opus; Bezerk. Izzy also sheds some light on some new anime that everyone should look into (60:00). These recommendations were what the Gents were looking forward to, especially Young Jaimé looking to develop his anime palate even further. You can find Izzy Takamono all over social media under the same name @izzytakamono and can hear him every week on his podcast; 4Nerds1Podcast

The Gents already open the episode questioning the Jacksonville Jaguars giving Tim Tebow a contract to play tight end for the upcoming season. After birthday celebration reflections and bragging rights about winning fantasy basketball for the podcast (15:00), EstoBro continues the bit of "What's wrong with baseball?" with how the absence of the dual-athlete has been missing from the sport and how fans would love to see it again (22:05). Before diving into the nerd segment, the Gents reflect about J Cole starting his professional basketball career and dropping his latest album; The Off-Season (37:45). EstoBro is still riding his Pokémon high after playing New Pokemon Snap, and also reports the news that Target and Wal-Mart stores have stopped selling Pokémon cards (44:15), and why other trading cards games have not run into the same problems. The chicken wings debate from last week's Food Wars has left followers of the podcast in a frenzy (61:30) with an ongoing conversation with MLB ballparks running the same contest; which leads the Gents to argue which city makes the best hot dog (71:50) because TV claims there's no other ballpark food that should be enjoyed.

Candy Shop - Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars) Perverted or Food Genius? | Ep.47

The taste of the tentacles took a turn in the wrong direction, it was as if my entire body was being violated – Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars)

    We discuss

    • What was our first reaction to the perversion? The foodgasm as it where?
    • We discuss whether the perversion adds or subtracts from the show?
    • Our thoughts on why we think the creators, Yuto Tsukda and Shun Saeki decided to do the anime in this format?
    • Do we think its perverted or food genius?
    • Have we tried any of the dishes you have seen? Or any memorable dishes from the show?
    • Has it given us a newfound appreciation of different types of food?
    • What are some of our best foodgasm reactions?
    • Eds final question

    Forget Your Formalities

The Gents skip the salutations and immediately jump in on the ending of the NBA season (0:30), and make predictions on what teams will prevail in the playoffs this year. The collective also touches base on the NHL wrapping their season up and make playoff predictions there (31:00) as well. Young Jaimé jumps the gun with the "Who's got the munchies?" segment to reflect on how the fans of the show decided their own Food Wars with deciding what is best with Buffalo wings: ranch or blue cheese? (47:05) EstoBro celebrates the triumph of the NEW Pokémon Snap (60:05), but also touches base on why the side games of the franchise are better games than the core series recently. The Gents are also very excited to share the news of the Venom: Let There be Carnage teaser trailer that dropped earlier this week (74:15) and how it will reflect in the Spider-Man universe and the MCU. The month of May represents Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Gents wanted to build awareness on the topic by also sharing the story of Drew Robinson (82:10). The collective at the EstoBro TV Podcast show major support of mental health awareness and will continue to stress that people need to show more attention to the subject.

    Ten Strokes Under

    Ten Strokes Under

After an exciting week for the Gents, they're back in business with another edition of the podcast. The Gents reflect what happened in their week before breaking down the recap of the Masters (8:30) and celebrating the first Japanese-born player, Hideki Matsuyama winning the green jacket at Augusta. This week the Gents discuss the "What's wrong with baseball?" segment by discussing why the unwritten rules are confusing and why they need to be broken (25:10). The Gents finally take the time to talk about Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ and the major build-up that these shows are leading to the next series of films in the MCU (40:55). Also, there is a hot take taken on the overuse of the mid-credit and post-credit scene used for these superhero films (50:55), and the absolute torching of Joss Whedon ruining the Justice League and the ripple effect on his remarks said to Gal Gadot (54:30). Young Jaimé brings up a new debate with what is the best-baked mixture with cookie dough, cake batter, and brownie batter and a debate with the rest of the collective on the podcast (61:55). This passionate debate will definitely lead to more food debates for future episodes.

Ep 28: Siblings - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & The Chicken Sisters

Ep 28: Siblings - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & The Chicken Sisters

In this episode of Parallel Fiction, Heather and Jeff discuss the joy of Siblings!  Both hosts can talk to having siblings, but in this story they bring us two very different families.  You’ll want to grab some food before you start this episode because both stories have some definite snack food cravings built in.

Heather starts off the summary portion this episode with her presentation of The Chicken Sisters.  Heather takes of through the plot of two sisters battling it out on a fictional TV show over whose restaurant and kitchen has the best tasting chicken, all stemming back from a family rivalry years in the making.

Fun Fact! Author KJ Dell’Antonia is also a writer for the New York Times.  Google her opinion piece titled “Why I Didn’t Answer Your Email” for further reading

Jeff whips up part 2 of the summary section with the 1990 movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Capitalizing off of the 80’s toy and comic craze, Turtles tells the story of 4 mutated ninja’s and their mutated rat sensei.  Jeff points out that the teamwork and hierarchy of the 4 turtles plays a big role on every day siblings - there’s the jokester, the leader, the tinkerer, and the hot head (sometimes).  Through the story, the main characters find out what family means to everyone, whether they’re a mutant turtle or the human characters in this movie.

True Story! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the highest grossing Independent film for most of the 90’s, but was dethroned by the Blair Witch Project (1999)

Following these reviews, Heather and Jeff dive into commonalities between the two works such as upbringing, conflicts, adult relationships, family first, and teamwork.

Listen in to hear Jeff and Heather’s candid thoughts on the masterpiece scenes of each story, how The Chicken Sisters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles compare, and how Jeff and Heather relate the two. Enjoy this episode and share with anyone who appreciates some family growth!

Heather’s rating for Twelfth Night:  Nice – A fun read.  Looking forward to follow this author’s career!

Jeff’s rating for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Super Nice* – Understandably biased rating, in reality this movie is more of a common person’s “Nice”, but is extremely sentimental to Jeff.  Lots of awesome shots, quotable quippy dialogue, and great action.

Ep. 44: Spring 2020 Anime Preview

This week, the Weebologists tackle spring 2020 anime to try and pick up the bangers in what seems like a sparse season. While Tower of God and Gleipnir seem to be the stand outs this season, the rest definitely looks to be a season of continuations and big returning shows carrying spring forward.

In the midst of covid-19 causing havoc around the globe, and this self-isolation situation seeming like the perfect time for weebs to get their backlog watched, you favorite weeb professors want to remind you to do your part in slowing the spread of the coronavirus: avoid non-essential social interaction, wash your hands like crazy, and, hell, binge anime in the comfort of your own home. It helps the community and ripping through your MAL Plan To Watch list literally can save lives!
