    New Routine

In this third episode, recorded on Election Night 2020, Grace and Tyler talk about using Wayne as a balm for stressful times, Grace learns about ramps, and a timeless Wayne Debate is reignited: is Halley’s Waitress actually a good song? Also: some extra bad ideas in the Bad Ideas segment, to distract from the then-underway election.

    Debts-cember Part 2: 8 Lazy Nights

Welcome to the Merry Month of Debts-cember!

Part 2 - 8 Lazy Nights - On this week's show, because I just didn't have it in me to pull off another extended show, we're dialing it back with our shortest episode ever! 8 songs (one for each night of Chanukah) plus a brief bonus track to symbolize the starter candle.
All this & much, much less!

Hop On Power Pop Episode 3: HOPP RADIO: Beatles Inspired Songs & More

Hop On Power Pop Episode 3: HOPP RADIO: Beatles Inspired Songs & More

Episode 3: HOPP RADIO: Beatles Inspired Songs & More is the first installation of our radio station. On a HOPP RADIO Episode we will play and discuss Power Pop music from lesser known music. It’s all great Power Pop music, but it’s probably from band’s you may not have heard about, unless you're really into this genre. At the risk of being redundant, we realize that Power Pop music is already “Unpopular Pop” music according to Jon Brion, but you probably won’t hear these songs on your FM radio. We wanted to give the spotlight to more independent artists who wouldn’t normally get the type of promotion you’d get if they were on one of the major record labels. So, if you like what you hear, support these artists and buy their music.

On this Episode we feature music by:

    • David Novotny (Czech Republic musician In The Beat-les Style)
    • Stevie Riks (The Doo’s, famous Celebrity Impersonator)
    • Addison Love (Thoughts On Lunch?)
    • Vegas With Randolph (Legs & Luggage)
    • Your Gracious Host (Boomerang)
    • Young Beautiful In A Hurry (Royalty)
    • Kai Danzberg (Not Only Sunshine)

    PLUS ALBUM REVIEWS:
    Wes Hollywood (Dynamite) by Jessica
The Glad Machine (The Glad Machine) by Nadja Dee

Hop On Power Pop Episode 2B: David Thompson (guest) from The Pills, The Scheme, The Pop Cycle

Hop On Power Pop Episode 2B: David Thompson (guest) from The Pills, The Scheme, The Pop Cycle

Episode 2B: Interviews Boston then Seattle Power Pop musician David Thompson. David started in Boston, MA with the "Amphetamine Pop" band The Pills (He started with Corin Ashley), his solo project The Scheme (With Bleu) and his current Power Pop band, Seattle's Pop Cycle.

In Episode 2B we talk to David Thompson about:

    • Why David writes so many songs about girls
    • His experience at the Berklee College of Music
    • The Boston music scene -vs- The Seattle music scene
    • A song that should be in a James Bond movie
    • Music by The Neighborhoods, Phil Seymour, The Vapors, The Outlets, Gigolo Aunts

This is the first in studio guest for the Hop On Power Pop Podcast
We end the Podcast with our take on the Proust/Inside The Actor's Studio 10 Questions about music. A fun filled hour of music, insight and Power Pop.

Hop On Power Pop Episode 1: What Is Power Pop?

Hop On Power Pop Episode 1: What Is Power Pop?

Episode 1:  What Is Power Pop is a question that only a foolish person would attempt to answer. So, call us FOOLS! But we're music loving, geeky fools and we still have that blind childish ignorance that makes us fearless when we should know better.

Nobody is going to answer the question, What is Power Pop?, in a way that will make everyone happy. It's impossible. But, in Episode 1, we'll try to give some insight, in an educational manner that will start you on the trail of what makes this genre so special.

Note: Episode 1 is very different from all the other episodes that follow. There's no guest. There's not a specific focus on one band or even one song. It's a fast paced, sound effect filled amusement park ride. We wanted to keep the podcast FUN because it's FUN music.

Hop On Power Pop Episode 2A: Power Pop Defined with David Thompson

Hop On Power Pop Episode 2A: Power Pop Defined with David Thompson

Episode 2A of HOP ON POWER POP Podcast, talks to Boston-Seattle based musician David Thompson (The Pills, The Scheme, The Pop Cycle) about the hotly argued topic What Makes A Song Power Pop? It's a different podcast than Episode 1 because we have an in studio guest!

David shares his insights on the genre and we discuss everything from the Power Pop bands:

    • The Raspberries
    • Cheap Trick
    • Matthew Sweet
    • Big Star
    • The Knack
    • The Monkees
    • The Posies
    • and more

Episode 2 is broken into two parts: 2A & 2B
Episode 2A: Further discussion on What Is Power Pop? with David Thompson
Episode 2B: Focuses on the music of David Thompson (The Pills, The Scheme, The Pop Cycle)
