    Pete Yorn

On this episode of Lipps Service, Scott sits with singer-songwriter Pete Yorn to discuss his music and recent film role in Killers of the Flower Moon. The two get into Pete’s early musical influences, his experiences in the L.A. singer-songwriter scene, and his journey towards getting a record label. Next, they discuss the writing and recording process of Pete’s debut, Musicforthemorningafter, and Pete even shares the backstories behind tracks like “Life on a Chain” and “For Nancy.” His collaborative album with actress and musician Scarlett Johansson is also discussed, along with his work with Frank Black of the Pixies and other legendary musicians. Along the way, Pete shares insight into his latest single, “Someday, Someday,” and other projects that are currently in the works. And, of course, he shares some of his top 5’s, including his top 5 songs by The Smiths, and his top 5 most underrated bands. Min tone i livet: René Bové Andersen - Pixies, Vamos

Min tone i livet: René Bové Andersen - Pixies, Vamos
Pixies' "Vamos" (1988). THIS ROCKS!

This episode was first featured on our Patreon!

This is my favorite episode of this seven part series for obvious reasons. It covers Nirvana and also introduced me to a bunch of other bands as well. Featuring one of my favorite people in music, Henry Rollins who gives his takes on the scene in the 80s. We hear from the producers on the construction of the songs, the fame aspect and pressures, and end on a somber note.

The rise of alternative rock in the USA. From its early underground days where bands like Black Flag drew inspiration from the DIY ethos of punk, Left Of The Dial traces the history of the network of fans, clubs and fanzines that sustained the scene and launched the careers of bands like R.E.M., The Pixies and Hüsker Dü. The film takes a fresh look at the explosion of the Seattle scene, culminating in the success of Nirvana's 'Nevermind' and the tragic loss of Kurt Cobain, an artist whose triumph and tragedy continues to cast an inescapable shadow.

Ep. 54: Another WILD CARD featuring Jeremy Zamora

What is it that we do here at InObscuria? Besides conducting ridiculous game shows, we exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode we take a listen to all 3, as we let our contestants pick a randomly obscure song by the decade in which it was released from a creatively curated playlist. Our good friend Jeremy has been in bands with your hosts; and is an amazing guitarist and all-around music aficionado.

    Songs this week include:

Min tone i livet: Dragut Lugalzagosi (The Great Dictators) - Pixies, Where Is My Mind?

Min tone i livet: Dragut Lugalzagosi (The Great Dictators) - Pixies, Where Is My Mind?
"Det var et rimelig voldsomt, bebumset teenageoprør." Dragut Lugalzagosi er forsanger i rockbandet The Great Dictators (https://www.facebook.com/thegreatdictators/). The Great Dictators er aktuelle med deres fjerde album One Eye Opener (https://shop.celebrationrecords.dk/product/the-great-dictators-one-eye-opener?fbclid=IwAR3aZ7dRWjvsd4gTRM9OXgEA-udmLt6EZYUAmnTGbk5REPglXQiJtLTL9NU) og singlen "By the Throat" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Jp0cLFZJsI) (feat. Jamie Stewart fra amerikanske Xiu Xiu). Varighed: 6:56
