Host Adam Burke and guest Brian Blessing got together amidst some challenging conditions today to talk NFL Week 7. After opening up the show with some words on NHL news, the Olympics, and some things to keep in mind for the future of the feeder systems for the pro sports, the guys talked NFL and highlighted several games in the process.

Adam and Brian talked about overreactions in the market with a focus on Buccaneers vs. Raiders and then turned their attentions to Bills vs. Jets, Seahawks vs. Cardinals, and 49ers vs. Patriots.

Host Adam Burke was excited to talk about Rays vs. Dodgers on the October 19 edition of The Bettor’s Box. It is a classic case of hitting vs. pitching, as the Dodgers bring arguably the league’s best offense and the Rays bring arguably the league’s best pitching staff. Adam talked about the edges, advantages, and disadvantages for each team in this series with deep statistical breakdowns and analysis of the personnel for each team.

Do the Rays have an edge by having their starting rotation set up? Will the Dodgers be at a disadvantage as a result of using Dustin May and Julio Urias in the ways that they did? Can the Rays hold up offensively against a Dodgers team that led the league in plenty of offensive categories and has walked more here in the postseason? It can be scary when there are a lot of games that you like on the NFL card, but host Adam Burke would rather have that problem than not liking anything at all. Some of the leans are based on injuries or just a confirmation of injury reports and others are based on the line that must be taken in the contest. Agree? Disagree? Fade? Follow? Adam talked about Astros vs. Rays first, as the Rays have a 2-0 lead, but may be fortunate to be in the position that they are. Adam talked about some interesting stats and a bet that he likes for the remainder of the series that may disappoint those that are rooting against the Astros.

On the NLCS side, Adam broke down Game 1 and then talked about what to expect from the rest of the series as the Braves drew first blood. It would seem that they have not gotten much respect for that Game 1 victory, as they are still an underdog for the series and face longer World Series odds. Adam discussed what that means and what to watch for going forward in this series and also in the playoffs as a whole, as the ball appears to be different yet again.

We’ve got a lot going on right now with nearly a dozen sports betting markets, including two of the biggest in the NFL and college football. Adam shared his thoughts and advice about how to handle this incredibly challenging time of the year for all bettors.

Then he focused fully on baseball, with a look at league-wide offense from the last week and then some thoughts on contact quality, high-velocity contact, and some teams to bet on and some teams to bet against as a result. After talking about baseball betting odds movement in the market and a couple of picks for Tuesday, Adam discussed a few picks he’s looking at for Thursday and Friday to wrap up the show.

Adam Burke and Kyle Hunter started by talking about some general college football thoughts, including power ratings, market entry, and home field advantage in what is a very strange year for that betting market. The guys also took a look at three games, with thoughts on BYU vs. Navy for Monday night, UAB vs. Miami (FL) on Thursday, and then Louisiana vs. Iowa State on Saturday.

Shifting gears to the NFL, Adam and Kyle addressed how they handle handicapping differently in the NFL market and about what they use in terms of coming to a conclusion with their bets. They also dug into Thursday’s Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs game and then the Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Host Adam Burke is diving headfirst into a foreign betting market, literally and figuratively. The KBO is not new by any means, but it is a sport that Adam has not handicapped before. With MLB still dark and not much else going on, why not give betting on the KBO a try? On this edition of The Bettor’s Box, Adam handicapped the five Opening Day games on May 5 and also talked about how he is going to approach the games.

Adam has spent the last couple of editions of The Bettor’s Box sharing stats and information with listeners about the players and about the numbers and metrics that seem to matter a lot in the KBO. Now we can put those to practice with the first round of games and see how things play out. Adam passed on some rankings of bullpens and team defenses and highlighted the best place to bet on KBO games on today’s show.

Host Adam Burke and guest Brian Blessing from Sportsbook Radio and Vegas Hockey Hotline spent about a half hour with our listeners today talking about the NFL Draft and the adjusted golf schedule. The guys gave some of their early thoughts on some of the betting options out there for the draft and talked about how they will be approaching the first round.

The fall could be special with several golf majors, the Ryder Cup, the Kentucky Derby, the MLB playoffs, plus the football seasons. Or so we hope. Adam and Brian talked a little bit about that and about locking money up in the betting markets for long periods of time. The guys also had story time at the end of the show.

Horse racing has become the flavor of the month with all other sports down for the count, but Brian Blessing has been betting horses every day for a very long time and we’re lucky to have his expertise on BangTheBook Radio. Host Adam Burke had Brian on the show to help with some more horse tips, including some tips on how to read the form.

The guys focused in on Race 8 at Tampa Bay Downs for Wednesday April 1, which you can follow along with at this link. Adam and Brian talked about some different elements of the race, going from dirt to turf, and what to look for in terms of the class and strength of past race fields.

With so much uncertainty out there in the sports world and in the world in general, it can be a little bit tricky to figure out what to focus on in a betting sense. Surprisingly, that wasn’t the case on today’s edition of The Bettor’s Box, our MLB betting podcast. Host Adam Burke had a lot to talk about and a lot of different things to say about what he looks for when betting on baseball and injury updates for Spring Training. Adam discussed which Spring Training stats matter and which ones have some actual use as we head into the regular season. There are a few pitchers that stand out and Adam made sure to mention those and whether or not he believes what he is seeing.

That led to a discussion about stabilization points and why Adam uses the stats that he does in order to handicap games, including a discussion on ERA, BABIP, and LOB% and what makes them stats that are so conducive to betting on or against pitchers. He also talked about some updated injury situations for Spring Training and what their potential impacts could be heading into the regular season. Aaron Nola, Byron Buxton, Chris Sale, Carlos Carrasco, and Paul Goldschmidt were some of the names mentioned on that segment.
