Filly, Panda and The Dr. are back with another season of Stryking Fury. The trio quickly go over the personnel changes that have occurred in the Empire. The 23/24 season is right around the corner! Get caught up in all things Empire. From rosters to recent events, we’ve got a packed show! 

Founder of The Diabetes Football Community, Type 1 Diabetes advocate and member of the Wales National Futsal Team, Chris Bright, decided that allowing the power of community and sport to create growth in young people living with Type One Diabetes was a perfect combo. After being diagnosed with T1D as a kid, Chris worked hard to continue playing football, even joining the Wales Futsal International team. But he knew this fusion could tackle stigmas associated with the diagnosis and create positive peer support, so in 2017 he founded The Diabetes Football Community, and this combination has grown ever since. 

Here’s the Top Four Takeaways from the podcast: 

1. At 3:44 Chris and Dominique get real on what makes community-based support uniquely valuable for young people living with chronic illness, how creating community through interest over diagnosis could be the more valuable mindset, and how Chris works hard to advocate for young men with T1D diagnoses to break down stigmas.  
2. At 22:49 Chris reveals the superlatives in his life, like working with the T1D, what makes their activism unique, and major memorable moments with the football players that’ve come through The Diabetes Football Community.  
3. Intermission is STORY TIME at 39:55 and Chris brings us back to when he was playing for the Wales Futsal International team and the race against the clock to get his T1D numbers to get down to the right number to play. 
4. And we wrap up the episode at 48:08 with Chris and Dominique talking about what ways young people living with chronic illness/disability can recognize their unique stressors and find ways to be empowered to handle those stressors, and the best piece of advice for those with chronic illness/disability that want to give sports a try.

Checking in with a couple of our soccer gurus--Alyssa Martineau and Todd Church--on this episode of Petey Podcast. Alyssa is the Head Coach of the Elyria Girls Soccer Program and Todd is her Assistant, and he's also her dad. The duo finished up their first year as new coaches of the girls soccer program this past school year and just as quickly, kicked off their summer workout schedule and will start up a summer soccer camp in July. And, by the way...there's still time to register for that camp! We had a lot of fun catching up with Alyssa and Toddy and hearing about all the excitement surrounding Elyria Girls Soccer. The force was strong with the Strykers Squadron this weekend as they took both games versus the Sidekicks. The boys dropped double digits on Dallas at Friday’s military appreciation night. A game where they took a commanding lead on the back of a 7 goal 3rd quarter and cruised to a 10-3 triumph at Toyota Arena. They backed up their play at Star Wars night on Sunday with another forceful 8-2 demolition of Dallas. Will Tacoma feel the power of this fully operational Death Star this weekend? Join us as we recap the week and look forward to tangling with Tacoma!

2023 is here and the Empire Strykers have stormed out the gates with 3 games in the first week of the year. After starting off with a statement win Vs reigning Eastern Conference Champs Florida, the boys went to a snowy East Coast for back to back games vs Baltimore and Utica City. Taking a contentious split on the road trip. Join Filly, Panda and the Doc as we unwrap the three games and look forward to hosting The Blast on the 17th. 

The Empire is back to winning ways! The boys split games with Mesquite and Dallas as a Texas two step takes one step back and one mighty step forward! Hear the gang break down both games as we ring in the holidays with our final pod of 2022! Happiest of Holidays everyone!
