    Grainne Hunt and Jim Murphy have teamed up to bring the James Joyce book “Dubliners” to life through a special collection of songs inspired by each story in the book.

    This project was born during a “Covid lockdown” songwriting workshop and now it comes to life with a new album, ‘The Stern Task of Living’; and live performances which will debut in Smock Alley as part of the Bloomsday Festival.

    In part two of this two part podcast I chat with Eoin Kernan, about his recovery from mental illness and his new venture, Discover SUP.

    In part one he spoke about his OCD and his eating disorder, which led to a full breakdown in 2019, and his subsequent road to recovery.

    In this episode he speaks about his partner, Carolina and his family and the role they played in his recovery, as well as his special relationship with the sea.

    He chats about his love of stand-up paddleboarding, which led to his new venture, Discover SUP, whereby he brings joy and happiness to so many through this special activity.

    He speaks about the pressures of modern life, workplace and personal expectations and what can happen without the appropriate pressure valve.

    Eoin speaks candidly about his mental illness and his long road to recovery and the special role of art therapy as part of this.

    On today's podcast I celebrate the 75th birthday of Elvis Presley with a conversation with his cousin, Edie Hand who shares unique insights into his life, the humble beginnings that shaped him and her book, 'The Genuine Elvis' .

    Edie, who grew up in a small town called Burnout in Alabama is an author, an actress, a publisher and a movie producer.

    In her life she has suffered some huge setbacks but with "true grit" she has powered through and enjoyed considerable success.

    Her experiences led her to founding the Edie Hand Foundation and an organisation called 'Women of True Grit' to support and inspire women who have suffered trauma in their lives.

    She chats about her life, her career and at the tender age of 72 she shares her perspective on this "season" as she calls it.

    She says "you can't get to beautiful if you have not been through hard"

    A huge interest in mindset and psychotherapy led to further education and this combined with her own experiences and personal challenges with mental health, led to her starting this new business.
