Dan has two tales that have an unintentional North America indigenous peoples theme for today’s show. The first is the story of the Santa Fe’s De Vargas Street House, a story that surrounds one of the very one oldest houses in all of America. Then, for his second story we hear the lore of Spearfinger. Lynze has her usual two stories, both revolving around phones. Her first one is a somewhat comical confirmation tale and her second is creepy, creepy, creepy!

Opening Sumerian protection spell (adapted):
"Whether thou art a ghost that hath come from the earth, or a phantom of night that hath no home… or one that lieth dead in the desert… or a ghost unburied… or a demon or a ghoul… Whatever thou be until thou art removed… thou shalt find here no water to drink… Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own… Into our house enter thou not. Through our fence, breakthrough thou not… we are protected though we may be frightened. Our life you may not steal, though we may feel SCARED TO DEATH."
Sometimes the death sentence is just the start of the story. In this episode, we hear about six times capital punishment from Australia’s convict days didn’t go to plan — from equipment malfunctions to out and out brawls.
Even the first execution in the British settlement at Port Jackson didn’t go very well when they couldn’t convince anyone among the First Fleeters to act as hangman. In fact, the first official hangman of the colony, James Freeman, had to be persuaded to take on the job as he himself stood at the gallows ready to face the worst of all punishments.
Then there was Hugh Lowe, who was granted a full pardon from the King himself … a year after he had been executed for sheep stealing.
Or how about William Smith, who survived the drop, and then had to face going through the whole thing again?
There are many more, but the one who gave the best last words before his punishment was dealt was Francis Morgan. Sent to the gallows on Pinchgut Island — now Fort Denison in Sydney Harbour — he turned to the Governor and said: “I have to thank Your Excellency for giving me the opportunity of dying among the most beautiful scenery in the world.”

Have you ever imagined yourself as Scott Bakula's character in Quantum Leap, traveling back in time into a disastrous scenario? For many of us, it would spell doom. Luckily, today's guest Cody Cassidy - author of How to Survive History: How to Outrun a Tyrannosaurus, Escape Pompeii, Get Off the Titanic, and Survive the Rest of History's Deadliest Catastrophes - is here to keep us alive.
Cassidy has written a string of fascinating and entertaining history books, including And Then You're Dead and Who Ate the First Oyster? In today's conversation, he and James run through ways to survive archetypically horrific events in Earth's history. They attempt to survive the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. They try to avoid contracting the bubonic plague. They try to decide whether presenting dental floss to a king would keep them from the gallows!
History may be the most dangerous place on earth, but that doesn’t mean you can’t visit. And with a copy of How to Survive History, some penicillin, and this episode of the podcast, you just might make it out alive.

Deplorables… you have now become …delusionals. When you had a tough time selling the triumvirate attack of Antifa / Black Lives Matter / FBI on the Capitol, you pivoted to your “normal tourist visit” narrative which also turned out to be troublesome because of the avalanche of video showing your Trump clad " tourists" beating cops like blood thirsty barbarians. So, you pivoted yet again and started calling your insurrection ; “legitimate political discourse”.
Discourse? Of course.
In 1724 Margaret Dickson was sentenced to death for alleged infanticide, hanged from a gibbet in the Grassmarket in Edinburgh, pronounced dead—and then woke up a few hours later complaining of a sore neck. She was scorned in street ballads and cheap printed broadsides, only to be celebrated in verse in our own time. She was known as “Half-Hanged Maggie.”
Who shot Ashley Babbitt, NO! WHO SENT HER TO HANG MIKE PENCE????
Why was she there? How are her friends? Did she make the pipe bombs? How many cops went to the hospital because of her beating them with the Confederate flag? Did she help to make the Gallows for Mike Pence? Is she a Lieutenant or General in the Insurrection? I got a lot of QUESTION because this can not happen AGAIN!

Haman is biblical example of how what we think, can lead us into big trouble. Sins like pride, arrogance, anger, envy, jealousy, bitterness, retaliation, lies, plans to harm, all go together in one big cluster.
Hal Lublin’s returned from his great boat adventure as we inch closer and closer to Wrestlemania!
We’ve gotten more matches confirmed for the show of shows! Seth Rollins vs. Triple H looks like it will happen; AJ Styles put Shane McMahon’s head through a car window (a fact that WWE replays wouldn’t let us forget); and both RAW and Smackdown Tag Team Champions got the chance to perform!
We’ll break all that down and so much more.
