About the Green Dragon Tavern Show

“Talking a little treason.” Veteran political operative Zach Lautenschlager and retired MLB pitcher Dennis Sarfate bring breaking news and inside commentary on American culture, politics and business.

The Green Dragon Tavern is where Paul Revere and the Sons of Liberty gathered in Boston during the American Revolution. “Let us go to the Green Dragon and talk a little treason,” Founding Father Samuel Adams would say, tongue in cheek, according to legend.

Today, the Green Dragon Tavern Show is where free men and women gather in defense of freedom.

Ed Morrissey: Latest Poll From Gallup Warns Democrats and Republicans

Ed Morrissey: Latest Poll From Gallup Warns Democrats and Republicans

Will the 2022 midterms see a “red wave” that will drive Democrats from control of Congress? A new Gallup analysis of party identification shows Americans have already begun voting – with their feet, evidenced most immediately in their party affiliation. In a single year, party affiliation shifted 14 points in the gap from a nine-year Democratic high to a 27-year record for Republican advantage.

This confirms that Joe Biden’s confidence-crisis cascade has seriously damaged Democrats’ claims to be a responsible governing party. The hard-Left turn by Biden and Democrats have pushed voters into the GOP’s camp. They have virtually ignored inflation, the supply chain crisis, and pandemic mitigation to pursue their hobby-horse radical agendas.

Republicans should carefully watch this trend, too. This shift took place almost entirely in the middle—as voters got disillusioned by Biden’s promises to govern from the center. Voters want to support a responsible governing party, not give free rein to ideological extremes.

Misunderstanding this would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in November and 2024.

John Yoo | Socialism vs. The American Constitutional Structure | The China Threat

John Yoo | Socialism vs. The American Constitutional Structure | The China Threat
Join America's Roundtable co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy for a conversation with special guest John Yoo, Visiting Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford University, Emanuel S. Heller Professor of Law, University of California–Berkeley School of Law, a Visiting Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, and Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General, US Department of Justice, where he worked on national security and terrorism issues after the September 11 attacks. The conversation elevates patriotic thoughts and highlights America's founding in 1776 and the advancement of the great cause of liberty. On America's Roundtable, John Yoo, Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy delve into the challenges we face in America, the push of socialism versus the American constitutional structure and how the founding generation emphasized decentralization and federalism while safeguarding checks and balances with an understanding that — "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." The discussion also brings to the forefront the growing China threat, the communist regime's cyber-attacks, the rising military threat and the "debt-trap diplomacy" impacting nations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. John Yoo served as general counsel of the US Senate Judiciary Committee under its chairman, Orrin Hatch of Utah. And he has been a law clerk for Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas and US Court of Appeals judge Laurence Silberman. Socialism vs. The American Constitutional Structure: The Advantages Of Decentralization And Federalism | John Yoo Socialism is finally getting the American honeymoon it never got in the last century. But American federalism’s division of power between a national government and fifty sovereign states makes difficult, if not impossible, the unified economic planning necessary to supplant capitalism. Decentralization of power, the Constitution’s Framers hoped, would not just promote government effectiveness but would also protect individual liberty by encouraging Washington and the states to check each other. Our Constitution’s fundamental decentralization of power does not prevent many Americans from wishing for socialism anyway. A 2019 Gallup poll found that 43 percent of adults believed socialism to be “a good thing” and 47 percent even reported that they could vote for a socialist candidate for president. While a bare majority still opposes socialism, that view loses popularity among younger Americans. Since 2010, their attitude toward capitalism has deteriorated to the point that millennials view both capitalism and socialism with equal favor at about 50 percent. That contrasts with baby boomers, who support capitalism over socialism by 68–32 percent, and Gen Xers, whose support is 61–39 percent. Source: https://www.hoover.org/research/socialism-vs-american-constitutional-structure-advantages-decentralization-and-federalism His tenth book, Defender-in-Chief: Trump’s Fight for Presidential Power, was published last year by St. Martin’s Press. Professor Yoo’s other books include Striking Power: How Cyber, Robots, and Space Weapons Change the Rules for War (2017); Point of Attack (2014); Taming Globalization (2012); Crisis and Command (2010); War by Other Means (2016); and The Powers of War and Peace (2005). He has co-edited three other books, most recently Liberty’s Nemesis: The Unchecked Expansion of the State (2016) (with Dean Reuter). https://ileaderssummit.org/services/americas-roundtable-radio/ https://ileaderssummit.org/ | https://jerusalemleaderssummit.com/ America's Roundtable on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/americas-roundtable/id1518878472 Twitter: @ileaderssummit @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA America's Roundtable is co-hosted by Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy, co-founders of International Leaders Summit and the Jerusalem Leaders Summit. Medved: An Opportunity for the GOP

Medved: An Opportunity for the GOP

A new Gallup Poll shows the Democrats’ diversity—not only in racial terms but in ideological outlook. The GOP remains overwhelmingly conservative—with 73 percent describing themselves that way and only 4 percent identifying as liberals.

Meanwhile, a full 14 percent of Democrats called themselves “conservatives” and another 36 percent said they’re “moderates.” While Democratic leaders drift to the left of their base, the GOP should target conservatives and moderates in Democratic ranks.

If you get a new voter to show up to vote Republican, that’s good—but it gives you just one extra ballot. If you convert a Democrat to your cause, you not only a bag new a vote for your side, but simultaneously take a ballot from the other side.

That’s the right formula for decisive Republican victory.

Michael Medved: Poll Shows Conservatives Outnumbering Liberals

Michael Medved: Poll Shows Conservatives Outnumbering Liberals

A new Gallup Poll offers encouragement and challenges for Republicans. In the national survey, Americans who describe themselves as “conservatives” still outnumber self-defined “liberals” by significant margins—35 percent to 26 percent. What’s more, in 39 of the 50 states, conservatives top the other side decisively. In only nine states—all of them on the coasts—do liberals enjoy an advantage.

With such lop-sided recent results, it’s hard to imagine that the November elections would even be close, or how Obama, Clinton and other liberals could even come close to the presidency.  The answer is that many Americans who call themselves conservative feel so disgusted by petty squabbles and dubious personalities in our politics that they don’t even bother to vote.

It also explains the Democratic scandal-mania: liberals like concentrating on trashing Trump’s personality rather than responding to conservative policies that remain broadly popular.
