We Are All Engaged in the Work of Bringing Others to Christ

We discuss talks given by Elders Rasband and McConkie. One about the role of the Book of Mormon in sharing the gospel and the other in knowing the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. We are all engaged in this work and here are two wonderful perspectives on how to do that.

Normal Habits That Can Sweeten Bitter Days

Drawing from the talks given by Rafael E. Pino and Isaac K. Morrison at the most recent General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we discuss making certain habits a normal part of our daily lives. Why? Because dark days WILL come and we can do hard things when He is part of our normal lives.

When we talk about stewardship in the Church, it is often in relation to other people. Often we forget that we also have a stewardship over this earth and all of God's creations including our own bodies.

    Why I Share My Testimony

    Why I Share My Testimony

This week we are discussing Elder Stevenson's talk  Nourishing and Bearing Your Testimony and Sister Browning's talk Seeing More of Jesus Christ in Our Lives from the October 2022 General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Elder Stevenson asks four questions: Do I know what a testimony is? Do I know how to bear my testimony? What are the obstacles in sharing my testimony? and How do I keep my testimony? As we studied these talks, a fifth question arose: Why do I share my testimony?

Steady in the Storms by President Henry B. Eyring

Steady in the Storms by President Henry B. Eyring

Let's face it, we are living in a metaphorical storm these days. President Eyring's talk addresses this and how to build a foundation in Christ that will keep us safe in the storm. Derek and Dana discuss this talk and compare it to a talk he was inspired to borrow from in April 2006 called As a Child

Broken Women (and Men) Healed at the Well - talks by Amy A. Wright and Susan H. Porter

Broken Women (and Men) Healed at the Well - talks by Amy A. Wright and Susan H. Porter

Lessons at the Well by Susan H. Porter and Christ Heals That Which is Broken by Amy A. Wright. Two very important stories of healing in the Bible are about broken women. Isn't it interesting that Christ chose to open his ministry to a woman so mired in baggage that she couldn't even draw water from the well when others were around? Christ's message of healing is for all.

Being a Peacemaker and We Heeded Them Not by Elder Neil L. Andersen and David A. Bednar

Being a Peacemaker and We Heeded Them Not by Elder Neil L. Andersen and David A. Bednar

As the children go back to school, it made us think of all the peer pressure they face to go against things that they know are right. This sort of pressure never really goes away in adulthood. How often have you been tempted to give into arguing your point rather than letting it go? We talk about the pressures of living a Christ centered life in a Me centered world. Divine Love in the Father's Plan by President Dallin H. Oaks

President Oaks seeks to eliminate misunderstandings about why the Church of Jesus Christ believes in marriage between a man and a woman and that gender is an essential characteristic of individual identity. Understanding is the key to eliminating contention.

I Have Nothing Left to Give You and Is the Plan Working by Elders Gavarret and Ochoa

I Have Nothing Left to Give You and Is the Plan Working by Elders Gavarret and Ochoa

Often times after we've had a great spiritual experience in our lives we fall back into a rut. This rut can last weeks, months and maybe even years. You may look at other people on fire with the gospel and you wonder why you aren't feeling it. Maybe life hasn't turned out even close to the way you'd hoped. These talks from the April 2022 general conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints address that.
Here's a great Come Follow Me podcast link I reference in this episode by Melanie Stroud: Episode 25 – Esther “Thou Art Come … for Such a Time as This” – Come Follow Me, for Us (comefollowmeforus.com)
Great news, I am also updating our website. Yes, a real website for you to check out and leave reviews. It will be www.conferenceinreview.com
It should be ready in a few days!

Our Heartfelt Joy: Sacrifice and Consecration by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Our Heartfelt Joy: Sacrifice and Consecration by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Sacrifice=joy? That never sounds right. However to get the momentum to soar there are things that we may give up and there are things that we consecrate meaning use for the Lord rather than just giving them up. These are two principles that are spoken of in the temple and for a long time I never knew the difference. Enjoy!
