Episode 488: On Her Majesty's Secret Service

The cast is B-Movie, B-Movie Cast! That’s right folks we’re back and this is a double treat episode as we’re doing a Christmas film and another in our “B is for BOND” movie series as we check out “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. In Bond’s 6th on-screen outing, we find George Lazenby has taken over the role of Britain’s most famous secret agent. Joining us in Bonding is show favorite Mark Mawston! Only for this episode, Mark is not alone. Our special guest has brought a guest: Jonathan Sadler, a 30 + year veteran of film & marketing who’s worked with Arrow Films, Revolver and Momentum Pictures. Mark and Jonathan bring a whole lot of insight to our discussion of one of the B-Movie cast gang’s favorite Bond films! So, start shaking that martini and get ready for “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” on this episode of the B-Movie Cast!

Episode 258: Time To Talk Some Bond

Episode 258: Time To Talk Some Bond

An episode two years in the making. Or 15. Or nearly 60, depending on if you want to start with the beginning of the James Bond franchise, the stay of the Daniel Craig era or when his final outing as 007 was supposed to come out. It is finally time for No Time To Die and Bond expert, Sergio Mims, joins Erik Childress to do a full dive into the series. They talk Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and even Lazenby. Their early experiences with the movies and before that, the books, are discussed. What is the Bond film that purists hate but at least one of them has a fondness for? Ultimately it is all sprinkled in to the discussion of the 25th Bond film, their full reaction to it (with spoilers) and whether or not it was a worthy finale to Craig’s arc.

You’re Never Too Young to Die

    Movie Meltdown - Episode 551

I'm not sure if you're ready for this one. (I don't think we were.) This episode we discuss the 1986 classic(?) Never Too Young to Die starring John Stamos, Vanity and Gene Simmons.

And before we ride off into the sunset in our post-apocalyptic dune buggy, we make a point to mention… The Road Warrior, Lynda Carter, a fake beard, aggressive apple-eating, Mitch Gaylord, Prince-adjacent, doing flips, a ton of music specials on TV, Pyramid, a little too high-def, Robert Englund, Stargrove, roll about over and over, the finger, a magic medallion, motorcycles with horse heads, flaming exploding balls of fire, back when punks were feared, Velvet Von Ragnar, gymnastics doesn’t translate to fighting in the real world, how computers work, now I do wanna join your cult… I didn’t know we got muffins, George Lazenby, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, McDonald's and the ‘84 Olympics, rock ‘n roll fantasy, firearm continuity, hot vinyl, slightly metallic and the rest of it was just cursing and nonsense.

    “It’s just such a conglomeration of crap from the 80’s - it’s like, HERE… and it’s a movie??”

Episode 106: On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Episode 106: On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Our license to kill is renewed as Bob Chipman returns to discuss George Lazenby's sole outing as 007, the divisive On Her Majesty's Secret Service. We compare Lazenby's take on James Bond to Sean Connery's, debate whether Telly Savalas is the best Blofeld, and speculate on what audiences thought of the movie's notorious ending. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and the birth of a new Bond villain... Goldbum!!!

Our theme song is "Nostalgia TV" by Edward Jonathan Blakeley through Lynne Publishing.

    009 - On Her Majesty's Secret Service

    009 - On Her Majesty's Secret Service
A new Bond versus a new Blofeld. On Her Majesty's Secret Service proves that more than one man can portray James Bond. George Lazenby and Diana Rigg both provide excellent performances in a much more personal movie. OHMSS is, at its heart, a love story, with some downhill ski chases and gunshots thrown in. Blofeld, seems to be pursuing his own needs, rather than the needs of his organization, SPECTRE.
