Steph Tisdell is a First Nations Australian comedian, who incorporates her Yidinjy heritage and perspective into her work. Why? Because, in her words, they are “the funniest race in the world.” She’ll explain. Plus, she tells us how her latest work aims to improve the representation of her fellow aboriginal people in an area of show business that is especially lacking: Stunties.

Andy Saunders is a First Nations Australian comedian whom Tisdell has called, “a guide, a mentor and an uncle.” He and his wife Deb famously appeared on “The Block,” a TV show about competing to renovate homes. Andy credits his time on the show with giving him great exercise and helping him get recognized. You can see more of the couple’s home design expertise on their YouTube show “Deb & Andy DNA of Design.”

Rarified Heir Podcast #98 : Peter Ackerman (Part 2) (Elinor Donohue & Harry Ackerman)

Rarified Heir Podcast #98 : Peter Ackerman (Part 2) (Elinor Donohue & Harry Ackerman)

Today on part two of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Peter Ackerman, son of actress Elinor Donohue and TV executive Harry Ackerman. On this episode, we focus on Peter’s mother Elinor Donohue and discuss everything from the Ray Court’s memorabilia shows as well as the Star Trek memorabilia shows she appeared at and the role Peter played at those events. Of course we do talk about Peter’s dad Harry Ackerman, a television executive who developed shows like I Love Lucy, Gidget, Bewitched, Hazel, Gunsmoke and a ton of others.

Along the way we talk about all things Ackerman, everything from Aerosmith to “Days of Our Lives”, the mandate from Robert Young that meant no kids on set, the coolness of Peter Frampton, a t-shirt for John Candy, the pattern of a Garry Marshall script and much more. Oh and one more thing, we left a little Easter Egg till the very end so make sure you listen to the entire episode. It’s all next on the Rarified Heir Podcast.

Surfer Lingo | Cowabunga, Dude! (TSB073)

Sometimes I’ll be researching an episode and get the idea for another episode from whatever Google rabbit hole I find myself in. That’s how this episode came about -- while I was researching The Story Behind Surfing.

I got into the topic of words and phrases popularized because of surf culture. And also, because my husband has been begging me to do an episode relating to his favorite movie, "The Big Lebowski," this is probably right up his alley, dude.

I’m your host, Emily Prokop, and this is The Story Behind Surfer Lingo.
