Episode Notes
As urban landscapes continue to evolve, the world's gaze is fixed on the potential of smart cities. The Smart City Expo World Congress stands as a testament to this interest, connecting global leaders, innovative companies, and forward-thinking organizations. The aim? To collaboratively move cities towards a brighter, more sustainable future. In this episode of the "Redefining Society Podcast" on ITSP Magazine, Marco Ciappelli engages in a riveting conversation with Jennifer Sanders, founder of the North Texas Innovation Alliance. They discuss the intertwining roles of technology, society, and politics in shaping the cities of tomorrow.
While many might nostalgically think of the Jetsons when envisioning the future, the reality of smart cities is far more complex and intertwined with our daily lives. As urban areas house an increasing majority of the world's population, understanding the trajectory of these cities becomes paramount. Jennifer Sanders, with her extensive experience in consulting, innovation alliances, and regional planning, offers valuable insights. She emphasizes the importance of thinking both globally and hyper-locally, underscoring the need for communities to work from the ground up, ensuring a quality of life that resonates with every individual.
As technology continues to redefine the boundaries of our world, this episode sheds light on the balance between individual deep interactions and broader global engagements. It's a balance of hyperlocal focus and global vision, reminding us that every piece is essential in crafting the world we aspire to inhabit.

Kim Lipari is my guest today on Post Status Draft. Kim started building a career in WordPress over ten years ago, and her agency, Valet, is almost that old. WordPress isn't a small village community anymore, says Kim, but we still talk about it as if it is. That tightly knit community is still there because — not in spite of — incredible growth. But what does the fact of growth mean for a small village culture? Can it turn into an enclave or cult? Is the language of a small village still an appropriate language for leadership? Do we need to act more like we're a busy city — and make an effort to get to know our newer neighbors' stories? Can we keep (let alone scale) the values, culture, and kindness of a healthy small community as we grow?
WP Engine is the WordPress Digital Experience Platform that drives your business forward faster. WP Engine makes WordPress easier and faster. It does the heavy lifting so you can focus on your core business and win online.
The Post Status Draft podcast is geared toward WordPress professionals, with interviews, news, and deep analysis. 📝

Teaching in the United States presents unique challenges to Asian immigrant educators. These challenges find reverberation in the classroom, where Asian culture tends to hold teachers in much higher regard and are well respected than in other parts of the world.
However, not only do immigrant teachers have to adapt to a new culture but also to regulations that govern a country's education system. In today's episode, we talked with Mrs. Zawilinski about the challenges foreign-born teachers like her may face when serving in classrooms across the United States.
She shares:
About our guest:
Memorable quote from the guest:
“With all the adjustments, all the combination of my experiences & skills that I have developed through the different exposures and different ages—I have taught pre-school to university and even master's students. Yung gamut ng range ng mga age level, that really fortified or forged my profession in teaching.”

Rak is a mythic storyteller: a screenwriter, author, journalist, filmmaker and public speaker. He’s been on a twenty-year well-documented journey on the fringes of consciousness that he is willing to share with us, exploring the delicate nature of filming and making media about shamanic experiences.
What is this sense of the sacred and initiation into the larger bandwidth of planetary consciousness that earth medicines like ayahuasca and 5-MeO-DMT can engender?
What is ego death and how do we release our fear of the unknown, of being in control, to sacrifice our ego to rejoin a larger whole? Is the psychedelic experience being commodified by venture capitalism and the shadow of Wetiko in western mindframe? Is the shamanic underground any different?
Rak suggests that collectively we have the pieces to the puzzle of a healthy, sustainable, meaningful new paradigm that unites ancient wisdom with future technology and that shamanism is a thread through the labyrinth of disinformation and division that points towards home
In 2014 the critically acclaimed documentary adaption of his ayahuasca book, Aya: Awakenings, was released, and toured Australia, the U.K. and the USA. This in turn led to his current documentary series, Shamans of the Global Village, which looks at the resurgence of medicine people around the world working with psychoactive tools for community healing and enlightenment. Rak lives in Melbourne, Australia.
