Jesus is... God | Ep. 126

Jesus is... God | Ep. 126

We navigate the sacred relationship between God the Father and Jesus Christ. Like blood cells that bring life-sustaining oxygen to our bodies, the revelations in this episode will breathe new understanding into your faith. Prepare to connect the dots between scripture verses as we dissect Jesus' identity as the image of the invisible God and the firstborn over all creation. Uncover the biblical narrative that paints Jesus as the embodiment of God's fullness, inviting us to know Him more intimately than ever before.

The term "Godhead" might seem unrelatable, but we're unpacking that word, diving into the Greek origins that enrich our understanding of this strange word. We contend with the nuances of theios, theiotēs, and theotēs, analyzing their distinctions in understanding God the Father in relation to Jesus. This episode is not just a lesson in theology; it's a quest to reconcile translation variances within the scriptures and to grasp the true nature of God's Spirit as indivisible from Jesus, as outlined in His Word.

In a world where religious perspectives vary greatly, our discussion boldly affirms the deity of Jesus through the scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments. We delve into the powerful declarations of God's singular sovereignty, as echoed from Isaiah through to Jesus' profound assertion of His identity. This isn't just another Bible study; it's a profound acknowledgment of Jesus at the heart of true biblical faith, a thrilling and essential affirmation for believers. Join us as we further understand why we proclaim the revelation that Jesus is God manifest in the flesh, the bedrock and cornerstone of our faith.

The Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), God the Spirit (The Holy Spirit). Who are the persons of the trinity? Why does it matter? How does learning the Trinity actually change my relationship with God?

We answer all of this in this episode of A Christian Podcast with Kevin Wilson.

...in the Lord Jesus - Audio

...in the Lord Jesus - Audio
There’s a reason the Trinity is a tricky doctrine. There’s an element of mystery and faith. This is what we mean when we say Jesus is fully God, and fully man. Both identities, both natures are fully expressed when describing Jesus. And some say, some wonder, “Well do I really need to hold to this doctrine, the Trinity?” The Trinity is not even in the Bible. The word, or even a word, period, that corresponds to our word Trinity.

Will the Sonship of Jesus End?

Will the Sonship of Jesus End?

Paul's description of the end of the age in 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 has confused many readers. The apostle wrote, “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power” (verse 24). He later added, “And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all" (verse 28). Taken at face value, Paul seems to imply not only a distinction between the Father and the Son, but also a subordinate role for the Son.

Dr. David K. Bernard reviews what the Bible says about the sonship of Jesus Christ and explains how Paul's description of the end of the age fits within that framework.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity: Father Eseke

(June 3, 2023) Father Anthony Eseke, priest-in-residence at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton parish, delivered his homily about the mystery and essence of the Most Holy Trinity. Our human mind and human language are limited in our attempts to fully understand this concept. The Bible reveals the very nature and essence of God, giving  us a foretaste of Heaven and asking of us to be active participants in our communion with the Most Holy Trinity.

How to Talk to a Trinitarian

How to Talk to a Trinitarian

Dr. David K. Bernard has had many conversations and debates with Trinitarian scholars and apologists during the course of his ministry. In this episode, he shares what he has learned from these discussions about effectively engaging with Trinitarians on the topics of the Godhead and the identity of Jesus Christ. This episode is for anyone who wants to lead others into greater understanding of biblical truth.

    What about Matthew 28:19?

    What about Matthew 28:19?

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus told His disciples to baptize their converts "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” So why did Peter preach that believers should "be baptized ... in the name of Jesus Christ" (Acts 2:38)? How do we reconcile this apparent discrepancy between what Jesus commanded and what Peter said on the Day of Pentecost?

Dr. David K. Bernard examines the context of Jesus' words at the conclusion of Matthew's Gospel and explains how to bridge the seeming gap between what Jesus said and what His disciples did in the Book of Acts.

In this episode, Dr. Bernard references his books In the Name of Jesus and Understanding God's Word . Both titles are available from PentecostalPublishing.com.

Is Jesus God or God's Son?

Is Jesus God or God's Son?

Oneness Pentecostals believe Jesus was God “manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16.) But the New Testament repeatedly refers to Jesus as the “Son of God.” What does this title mean? Does it indicate Jesus was somehow different from God, or less than God? Is Jesus God, or is He God’s Son?

Dr. David K. Bernard responds to this important question with a review of what the Bible says about the identity of Jesus Christ.

    What Is a Theophany?

    What Is a Theophany?

One way God revealed Himself in the Old Testament and dealt with humans on their level was through the use of theophanies, a visible but usually temporary manifestation of the Almighty. In this episode, Dr. David K. Bernard shares examples of theophanies and explains why God chose to reveal Himself in this way. He also answers the question of whether Jesus Christ should be considered a theophany.

To learn more about this topic, see Dr. Bernard's books The Oneness of God and The Oneness View of Jesus Christ. Both titles are available at PentecostalPublishing.com.

We know now, more than ever before, that we must change or perish. Worldviews are the foundation of culture, and the crisis has presented us with an opportunity to move to a new world-view linking Ancient & Modern, East & West, Science & Spirituality. Endowed with technology and a new worldview informed by ancient wisdom as well as the findings of contemporary science, we can create a new narrative and witness the dawn of a better era.”

Dawn of an Era of Well-Being from the Introductory Note from the Authors (Ervin Laszlo and Frederick Tsao) page xvi

Today’s conversation concerns matters of matter and spirit. By taking a close look at this very seemingly basic distinction, we can gain a lot of very practical information. What do we actually know about the material world? Many Eastern spiritual traditions, as well as many of the ancient thinkers, do not make a hard distinction between physical matter and spiritual substance. Some might say they are one and the same. Our guest today, the best-selling author and Jungian Analyst, Anne Baring, has much to say about the modern disconnect between the spiritual and the material. Today, she will make very clear her case that this disconnect alienates us from our sacred nature, and our divine purpose.

The fruits of uninhibited materialism can be seen in current events and throughout the violent history of world events. Our leaders are often driven by nothing more than selfish ambition and a wanton quest for power, placing self-interest above all else. A clear perception of the divinity manifest in the material world and its inhabitants helps us understand the interconnectedness and sacred purpose of all other beings on this planet, and should be instructive on how we must build a better world through collaboration rather than competition. Join us today as Ervin and Anne delve deep into these questions of material and spiritual.

Anne Baring is a Jungian Analyst and author of numerous publications including The Myth of the Goddess: Evolution of an Image co-authored with Jules Cashford; Soul Power: An Agenda for a Conscious Humanity with Scilla Elworthy; The Divine Feminine: Recovering the Feminine Face of God Around the World with Andrew Harvey; and The Dream of the Cosmos: A Quest for the Soul for which she was awarded the Scientific and Medical Network Book Prize for 2013, and which in 2020 was re-released in a new edition. The ground of all her work is a deep interest in the spiritual, mythological, shamanic, and artistic traditions of different cultures. Her website is devoted to the affirmation of a new vision of reality and the issues facing us at this crucial time of choice.
