    EP#17-The DJ's (A Tribute To Hip Hop's Backbone)

    EP#17-The DJ's (A Tribute To Hip Hop's Backbone)
Here’s a classic from the archives, a mix I made in conjunction with LA based Hip Hop Philosophy Radio a few years back. There was a time similar to Hip-House where every album had a song either dedicated to the DJ of the group and/or a DJ solo piece. This trend stopped sometime in the 90’s but a lot of these joints get missed or overlooked when it comes to Old School Hip-Hop…here’a a sonic ‘tip of the cap’ to all the DJ’s who have inspired me and many others, JMJ was definitely one of the first ones for me, that’s why he’s on the cover R.I.P...

    10 - DJ K La Boss - EPMD
    11 - He’s Incredible - T La Rock
12 - Darryl and Joe (Krush Groove 3) - Run DMC
    13 - AJ Medley - Kurtis Blow

EP#16 - Hype Mode aka Get Busy Music

EP#16 - Hype Mode aka Get Busy Music
t’s been a minute but I’m back with another one this time dedicated to fast rap music. My favorite era in Hip-Hop was easily 88-92 because of the tempo of the music, how Rakim, G Rap or Kane could spit so smoothly over a 115 BPM track. While I love a lot of new stuff these days, the vibe has definitely gotten slower and slower as time went on and not many are still flexin’ over some speed strictly 105 BPM & up for this one…here it is, get hype… appreciate the vibe!

    TRACKLIST:
    01 – Killa Sha – The Sharpest
    02 – Core Rhythm & Zajazza - It’s Not Fair
03 – Dj Format & Phill Most Chill – Get Busy Music

    05 – Yo-Yo – Make Way For The Motherload/Stompin ‘ To The 90’s

    07 – Eric B & Rakim – No Omega (Extended Remix)
    08 – Slick Rick – King
09 – Ultramagnetic MC’s – Message From The Source (Basement Version)
10 – Coldcut – Say Kids (What Time Is It?)
11 - Leaders Of The New School – Can’t Get Any Harder

EP#14 - This is my 14th Podcast (Hosted By Kwest Tha Madd Lad)

EP#14 - This is my 14th Podcast (Hosted By Kwest Tha Madd Lad)
This is my 14th podcast with special guest host Kwest Tha Madd Lad, a tribute to his cult classic LP “This is My First Album” released via American Recordings (Rick Rubin & Dan Charnas) in 1996. Aside from being a battle tested MC and one of the most original and unique personalities the golden era has ever produced, Kwest is just a good dude and humble hip-hop fan/scholar. We did this on a Friday night just vibin’ with some brews and trying to do something different. I’m not a big talker but I do want to start incorporating guests on my shows but not in a typical interview kind of way, so maybe we’re onto something with this one, at the end of the day we had fun so check the show featuring some classic material from Kwest himself along with true school treasures from Akbar, Wizdom Life, Grand Agent, YG’z, Ill Advised, Micranots, King Tee, Rok One, Shabaam Sahdeeq, L-Fudge, Milkbone, Walking Large, The Roots, Rah Godess, Ultramagnetic MC’s, Call O’ Da Wild, Da N’Credible Nigga Naquan, Truth Enola & Shadowz in the Dark. When you’re done make sure to go search for Kwest’s newest project S.P.I.T.R. (Smartest Person In The Room) out now via Mindbenda Recordings on Bandcamp and all streaming services.

EP#13A - Fresh Produce (Large Professor: The Main Source Era)

EP#13A - Fresh Produce (Large Professor: The Main Source Era)
Fresh Produce is a producer themed series focusing on some of my favorite producers and their work over the years. The first one is all about Paul aka Extra P aka Large Pro, a legend to say the least, I recently caught the Main Source reunion show in NYC and got motivated to do some research and pin down some of the best and less obvious Large Pro productions over the years and I was surprised by some of the things I found. Check the mix, featuring some early bangers from the likes of Nas, Main Source, The Don, Kool G Rap, Roxanne Shante, Apache, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Diamond, Powerule, Lord Finesse, Slick Rick, Brand New Heavies, The Jaz, Tragedy, Big L, Mobb Deep, Beastie Boys & Leaders of the New School. All tracks produced by Large Professor of course…Episode 13B (The Extra P Era) on deck and dropping soon…enjoy!

EP#12 - Hidden Treasures - Golden Era Freestyles

EP#12 - Hidden Treasures - Golden Era Freestyles
A special year end treat for the old heads, new heads & true heads…episode 12 is an all vinyl mix of classic freestyles from various radio shows and mixtapes, I bought these records for personal use because I wasn’t planning on putting another DJ’s promo on one of my mixtapes but at this point it’s nostalgia and I had this stack of records sitting around so I decided to put them to good use. It’s only right that I include the tracklist for this one to make sure proper credit is given to some of my favorite DJ’s and MC’s. This will wrap it up for 2018, enjoy the Holidays and I’ll be back in January to carry this thing on in 2019. Much love to the listeners, I’m still just getting started but the support so far has been appreciated!

Brand Nubian & Grand Puba - Back To The 90's
I haven't done any mixes in a few months, but when I was listening to a "Jango" station for 90s Hip Hop & they kept playing Brand Nubian's "Try To Do Me"... Now I loved "Slow Down", "Love Me Or Leave Me Alone" & "Don't Let It Go To Your Head", but I wondered, "how many of their 'lesser' jams did I sleep on?"... This is the answer I got; a greatest hits mix of what they used to call Intelligent, Conscious or Knowledge Hip Hop... Hope you enjoy... 1. The Return - Brand Nubian 2. Word Is Bond - Brand Nubian 3.
