    100% cannibal

In this brand spanking new episode of SNWF, we try out a few new segments like "Deep Tracks Only," where we play songs for one another game-show style and try to "name that band..." or at least the "one-hit wonder." We also start another new little segment entitled "Unpopular Opinion," where one of us shares a fun fact that would likely not be the opinion shared by a majority... ever. We also chat a bit on the topics of Armie Hammer and the new Discovery+ docu-series "House of Hammer," and all of the hijinx that crazy Hammer is up to, as well as a longer than necessary discussion on the 2010's Showtime series "The Tudors."" Here we go!

George Dennehy | Overcoming Obstacles for God's Glory

George Dennehy | Overcoming Obstacles for God's Glory

When I was about 9 or 10 years old, my parents bought me a little guitar and signed me up for guitar lessons.  I was pretty excited at the thought of being able to play, not realizing that it would take years of practice to be good enough to call it music.

Although I continued to play, lessons lasted about 2-3 years.  I remember having to press so hard on the strings to get a decent sound. Those steel strings felt like they were cutting into my fingers. My songs sounded nothing like those on the radio. It was so frustrating.

If you have ever played an instrument you probably can relate.  Well, imagine trying to play the guitar or the piano without fingers. Imagine playing without hands.  How about no arms?

Today’s guest not only plays guitar and piano, but he functions normally through life without arms.  His name is George Dennehy.  I met George at an adoption event years ago and was inspired by his story of being born without arms in an orphanage where he was severely malnourished. His adoptive parents encouraged him to learn to play instruments.

He was actually so impressive on the guitar that the Goo Goo Dolls heard him playing on YouTube back in 2012 and invited George to join them onstage during a concert to play their song, “Iris.”

Today, George speaks across the nation about overcoming obstacles and his faith in Jesus Christ. His story also includes being adopted from a Romanian orphanage and growing up in a large family of adopted children.

I know that George’s story will inspire you so enjoy my Conversation of Hope with George Dennehy.

Reach out to George and invite him to be a part of your event or church service. You won’t be disappointed.

Hebrews 4:16 is a great reminder that we can accomplish more than we sometimes think because God is always there to help.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Challenges will always be there, but if we can tackle them knowing that we don’t need to do it in our own strength, they don’t seem so big. And if you think your next challenge is too big, grab a guitar and try to play it with your toes. It can be done!

John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls): Sweet Lady Jane Apple Pie

John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls): Sweet Lady Jane Apple Pie

When John Rzeznik is on tour, he only requests one thing: a plain, grilled chicken breast. But, to his frustration and amusement, chefs can't resist zhuzhing up the bird with their own brand of pizzazz. He shares his long, arduous chicken-y journey with host Rachel Belle, including the story of a celebrity chef who tried to come to his rescue.

John wants to cap off his last meal with a deep dish apple pie from Sweet Lady Jane, a Los Angeles institution frequented by folks like Barbra Streisand and the Kardashians, so Rachel calls them up to find out what makes the pie so special.

And while we're on the subject of pie, John has plenty to say about pizza -- his favorite pizzerias just so happen to be two of the oldest in the United States. Host Rachel Belle chats with the owner of NYC's Lombardi's, America's first pizzeria.

Episode #45 - Roots of the Demon - Part 3

Episode #45 - Roots of the Demon - Part 3

In this episode, we continue exploring the Night Demon members' musical history and precursor bands. We resume the story after the demise of Black Opal. Jarvis hooked up with a band called No Motiv as tour manager while exploring a career with Guitar Center, before abandoning corporate life and going all in by joining No Motiv as bass player.  Meanwhile, Armand joined a band called From Satellite formed as a splinter entity from No Motiv, first on bass and then on guitar. In From Satellite, Armand learned the seduction and pitfalls of easy major label backing, only to watch the band crater in the wake of Green Day's 'American Idiot' phenom in 2004. Meanwhile, Jarvis explored his musical dreams playing bass and contributing creatively in No Motiv, learning volumes about songwriting and touring life along the way. Together, From Satellite and No Motiv were pivotal musical experiences in the history of Armand and Jarvis, whose reverberations carry through to Night Demon today.
