054: Time sensitive - Apply now for these (finance, banking, consulting) internships and other opportunities

This episode of the Dive Into Your Career podcast is your reminder that even though you have just touched down at university and may not even have unpacked all of your bags as yet... the application cycle for some popular sectors is underway and you won't want to miss these opportunities.

Opportunities within the finance / banking / consulting sectors are open now (including spring weeks, internships and graduate jobs) with deadlines in October, November and December - and also with some rolling opportunities for which early application is advised.

Useful websites such as Target Jobs and Bright Network are also recommended as resources.

In addition, opportunities in a wide range of sectors are available via 10000 Black Interns (deadline is 7 November 2021)

This is a time sensitive episode so listen now (that said, if you are listening beyond the deadlines, sign up for the mailing list of organisations you are interested in, where applicable, so you keep an eye on opportunities for the future).

053: 8 ways to improve your career prospects this academic year

It's a new academic year... new energy... new possibilities... and a great time to talk about what you could be doing this academic year to positively move things forward in your career development. And that's exactly what this episode focuses on today: 8 ways to improve your career prospects this academic year.

Whether you are new to uni... end of high school... a new graduate - lots here is applicable to you. One thing to remember however is that this isn't designed to be a list to overwhelm you. It's meant to do the opposite, so it's not a case of doing all of the things at the same time (some are quite contradictory actually so that would be tricky!)

Take one or two of the action points and apply it.

    We move.

    Let's go.

052: Why focusing on your career right now is important

052: Why focusing on your career right now is important

Have you ever considered when is the best time to focus on your career (it's development, prospects and possibilities)? Now... I'd say the answer is now ... and there's good reason for this.

"CAREER (according to the UK Career Development Institute) describes our journey through life, learning and work. We need actively to develop our careers to make the best of them. This process of career development takes skill as well as knowledge and the right attitude. Individuals need to work on career development skills throughout their lives."

With that definition, can you see why right now is a great time to focus on your career?

Topics covered in this episode include:

    • Definition of career
    • What career exploration night look like  (at any age and stage)
    • What  'long-term' career goals could encompass, practically speaking
    • Whether you can change your mind
    • Acknowledgement that career happiness and life happiness can go hand in hand

Whether you are entering sixth form, university, a year in industry, your first job after graduation or beyond - you'll recognise the importance of now when it comes to your career journey. Enjoy!

002: 3 Must Haves for Job Seekers

It's important not to take anything for granted so in these first few episodes of the Dive Into Your Career fundamental we are re/visiting some of the fundamentals as it's important not to make assumptions about where your knowledge levels "should" be. It's that kind of judgement that can mean some of the foundational steps are missed.

    Don't miss the basics!

In this episode, Gina Visram talks about what she considers to be the 3 Must Haves for job seekers.
