    'Good Things 2019 Preview'

    'Good Things 2019 Preview'
Good Things Festival 2019 is fast approaching and if you can't tell, we're so bloody keen for the East Coast run to arrive, so much so, we've tracked down a few of the bands featuring on the lineup for a chat including Enter Shikari, Ice Nine Kills and Trivium.

Join podcast host Browny as he FINALLY gets closure from Rou Reynolds (Enter Shikari) about their latest album The Spark which was arguably their most heartfelt release to date and find out why it's taken them over two years to get down to Australia to play songs off it for us. Talking about touring delays, Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills) also discusses why his band took their time to make it to Australia and how he came up with the ideas behind their incredible new album The Silver Scream which features songs written about horror/thriller movies from your childhood. He also talks about what the late Wes Craven meant to him and if the band would consider doing a sequel album with more movies they missed out on. Then Matt Heafy (Trivium) jumps in to talk Dad chat, how their latest album The Sin and The Sentence has been universally praised and how he still fanboys over metal heroes, just like we do with him.

We also take a look at the festival's sideshows, how YOUR BAND could potentially play at the event and thrash songs from bands on the lineup including Simple Plan, Gravemind, Thy Art Is Murder, Poppy, The Damned Things, The Veronicas, Windwaker and more...

Episode #80 feat. Dylan Gillies-Parsons of Gravemind

Episode #80 feat. Dylan Gillies-Parsons of Gravemind
Australia's heavy music scene is thriving right now with so many fantastic upcoming bands worthy of your attention and one band in particular we've had the pleasure of reporting on for a while now is Gravemind who are about to unveil their new album Conduit upon the world and their legion of loyal fans (and superfan Darcy), so what better way to build more hype for it than to get the big guy himself, frontman Dylan Gillies-Parsons on for a chat all about it.

The man goes into detail about the band's fanbase who are not only some of the most loyal followers ever witnessed by a new band but some of the most dedicated and hardworking news spreaders keen to see the band do well. Dylan also discusses some of the new album's heavy/thought-provoking themes which have resonated with plenty of listeners, some of which may not have been gravy fans before hearing songs like 'Volgin' and their latest single 'Phantom Pain', both titles inspired by the Metal Gear Solid video game series (and yes, we touch on that too).

Podcast host Browny also plays brand new music from KoRn, Carnifex, Killswitch Engage and Thy Art Is Murder, throwbacks from Devil You Know/Light The Torch, iwrestledabearonce, Cancer Bats and Architects + heaps more...

Episode #75 feat. Shawn Mayer of Igloo Zoo

Episode #75 feat. Shawn Mayer of Igloo Zoo
Every so often an album lands in our inbox that we can't help but get behind and talk about and that's exactly what happened when Sydney's Igloo Zoo handed us a copy of Light|Sound|Dimensions which is a prog/metalcore lover's wet dream. The band consists of one man, Shawn Mayer, who is the mastermind behind the idea and sound which can best be described as Devin Townsend meets Architects and Northlane.

The album (LSD for short) is just that, a musical adventure exploring what an acid trip is like with the highs and lows from start to end. An interesting concept which we had to discuss in detail with Shawn who co-hosts this week's podcast and fills us all in on how he came up with the idea and how he intends to make this project unlike anything else you've ever seen in a live setting before.

But the fun doesn't end there, this week we're going proggy with newer releases from Voyager, Periphery and Devin Townsend, throwbacks from Epica, Opeth, Destiny Potato and Northlane + something for the heavier music fans with new stuff from Gravemind and Slipknot.

Episode #68 feat. Sharpy the Blade of Boris The Blade

Episode #68 feat. Sharpy the Blade of Boris The Blade

There's a certain stigma surrounding the Death Metal/Core genre where some naysayers refuse to listen to it due to the sheer intensity of the music and bellowing screams being flung their  way, but once you can push past the barriers, you'll discover enlightenment through some of the heaviest riffs and blast beats on this planet and a band who are renown for infecting the masses with their brutal sounds is Boris The Blade, who unfortunately, have announced they're pulling the pin on the band after almost a decade together.

Arguably up there with the great heavy acts from Australia, the guys have toured the globe and were even called upon to play at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, a dream frontman Sharpy The Blade never thought possible when he used to watch the DVDs of the show growing up. He joins podcast host Browny to chat all about the band's epic farewell tour, the reason why they're all heading in different directions and some of his fav memories from over the years. He also goes into detail about why they're kicking things off in Sunbury, a remote semi-rural town outside of Melbourne where the band was first conceived.

We also take a look at the HUGE NEWS surrounding Slipknot which has seen OG member Chris Fehn being publically ousted from the group following allegations he was taking the band to court over pay disputes. Find out what was said ahead of their tour with Metallica later this year.

There's also plenty of HEAVY AF new music to get through from Alpha Wolf, Whitechapel and HellYeah, throwbacks from Suicide Silence, Bring Me The Horizon, iwrestledabearonce, Gravemind and heaps more...
