Grant Fuhr on The Cam & Strick Podcast

Grant Fuhr on The Cam & Strick Podcast

What’s the most important all-time measurement for goalies? Wins? Championships? Individual Awards? With our next guess, you don’t have to pick. The legendary Grant Fuhr has 5 Stanley Cups, over 400 NHL wins, a Vezina trophy and a William Jennings, so whatever you want to go by, he’s one of the greatest goalies ever, full stop. He talks about those absurdly dominant Edmonton teams with Gretzky and Messier, what could’ve happened in STL if he stayed healthy, his take on the new “workload” mindset among goaltenders, and much more. Before the interview, the boys break down the all-star shenanigans, a few huge trades, what an Ovechkin trade would look like, AND Strick spits a freestyle! Hockey is back, and we are absolutely stoked to have another legend on this edition of The Cam & Strick Podcast.

    Sports in the 90s

    Sports in the 90s

So this may, or may not, come as a shock to you, but growing up, I was never a big fan of sports, either playing, or watching them.  But, it's pretty safe to say that sports have been entwined in our culture and society for over a century at this point, but during the 90s, it was taken to a whole new level.  Not only did you have dominant teams in all of the major professional sports, but you also started seeing athletes in commercials, movies and TV shows, PLUS let's not forget about the HUGE uptick in merchandise.  You had jackets, action figures, video games, you name it.

On this week's episode of the podcast, Lou Carnevale makes his return, and we're diving a little deeper on the topic of Sports in the 90s, from the players, to the teams, to the merch.  This episode has actually been HIGHLY requested, and I'm so excited we finally got to put it out there.  So grab your favorite beverage and some Totino's pizza rolls, and enjoy two very different perspectives on sports!

    Tage Five

Let the debate begin! But before they get into that, they chat about the comments made by Zdeno Chara on the Games with Names podcast regarding the 2011 Vancouver Canucks (0:10).

They also get to the Columbus Blue Jackets (19:00), Calgary calling up Matthew Phillips (23:40), the latest on Brock Boeser (26:40) and Luke Schenn (28:10), the Kings and Trevor Moore (30:50), Cam York gets the call to Philadelphia (31:25), the comments made by Jesse Puljujärvi (32:40), Mitch Marner extends the point streak to 21 games (36:00), Elliotte also addresses the latest on Adam Pelech (39:00) and Patrick Kane (no) trade talk (40:00), and Kelly Hrudey drops by to share his perspective of Wayne Gretzky’s underappreciated slap shot (43:00).

Brett Hull on The Cam & Strick Podcast

On this episode, we interview our first ever TWO-TIME guest, and it's none other than the legendary Brett Hull. Being one of the greatest players in hockey history doesn’t automatically mean you’re entertaining to listen to, but we all know Brett Hull is equal parts talented and hilarious. Tyson Nash on The Cam & Strick Podcast

On this episode the boys are joined by Tyson Nash, a fan favorite with great flow and even better style, who you’d love to play with but hate to play against. We talk about whether he regrets his comments or not and what it was like to see the majority of the hockey world online voice their displeasure. With that controversy aside, we also touch on Tyson's playing days, what it was like being coached by Wayne Gretzky in Phoenix, and those insane Blues teams back in the day. Before the interview, Cam and Andy take a dive into playoff teams that aren't that scary, a video that is making the rounds of Logan Couture ripping apart Erik Karlsson on the bench, and much more. Kick your feet up and enjoy Tyson Nash on this edition of The Cam & Strick Podcast.
