Episode #182 - Catalyzing the Demon pt. 1: The Diamond Head / Raven Shows in 2013

This week, we take you back down memory lane to the early days of Night Demon, as they bubbled up from the seedy underbelly of the Los Angeles heavy metal underground. You will hear the context of Night Demon's drummer vacancy being filled by Dusty Squires in a session capacity as the band began recording what became the Curse of the Damned album. Jarvis reminisces about the difficulties of playing shows in LA and the sacrifices they made to get their music heard.  Then he describes how Night Demon managed to get on three regional shows of the Diamond Head / Raven tour in October 2013, how much landing those shows meant to the band, and how they served as the springboard to Night Demon believing in themselves that they could carry the torch.

Episode 300 Mortuary (w/ Stephen Sajdak)

Episode 300 Mortuary (w/ Stephen Sajdak)

It's October!! It's our 300th episode!! It's Bill Paxton skipping in a cemetery? It's ALL those things and more as we celebrate the horror flicks of 1983 and our tricentennial with one of the gang from We Hate Movies and returning champion Stephen Sajdak!! First, we've unearthed a slasher gem from the grave: MORTUARY!! This film has everything: Shag-adelic Frankensteins, Billy Beer, sunken living rooms, Chekov's Phone Co., the Boogie Van code, improvised grab-ass, multiple tummy stabbings, slasher disco tracks, Greg's Dad, aka The Main Character of the movie, and a beachside Sheriff's office we'd all like to work at!! All this, an in-depth analysis of every nightgown worn in the film, and stomach-centric Choose Your Won Deathventure are all waiting for you!! Share this episode with someone you love. Even someone you'd love to embalm alive - we won't judge.

Final Destination 5 (w/ Josh Korngut)

Final Destination 5 (w/ Josh Korngut)

We’re not saying goodbye to the Final Destination franchise… it’s a secret hello? That’s right - we’re following Death's design as we talk FINAL DESTINATION 5, complete with aggressive flip-phone calls, questionable Everclear and Nickleback references, and an all-new version of a Dirty Peanut!! Helping us see this vision a little more transparent is Dread Central managing editor and Development Hell podcast host Josh Korngut!! Will we avoid our deadly destiny? Does the incredible Tony Todd show up to add an entirely new wrinkle to the FD mythology? Can anyone tell any of the characters in this movie apart from one another? All this, plus a squishy edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure, and we take an x-ray of Final Destination’s lack of bones inside bodies!! Season 4 may be wrapping up, but The Body Count Continues as we celebrate Halloween 1983 starting next week on Kill By Kill!!

    The Final Destination (2009)

    The Final Destination (2009)

As we speed towards the end of Season 4, there’s one stop we’ve been dreading this whole time: 2009’s THE FINAL DESTINATION. Designated by both critics and fans as the franchise’s absolute nadir, the fourth film in the franchise was filmed in 3D while the characters barely qualify as two-dimensional - and we’re here to break down every splattered torso, pierced organ, and severed, floppy limb on display!! Along the way, we talk about visiting the Pipe Mall of America, debate the wisdom of naming characters “Milf” and “Racist,” discover that Craig R. Ellis is one of the most covered horror directors on the show, and grant Favorite Character status to an unlikely water-gun sporting child!! All this, plus a “deathtacular” edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure, and we explore why all the CGI is full of skeletons, but no one’s body seems to contain any bones!! We’re bidding Final Destination a fond farewell - until the surprise continuation - on Kill By Kill!!

Life is full of ups and downs… and so is Death when we break down FINAL DESTINATION 3 this week with Dennis Satterfield and Scot Burkin of the Inside The Idiot Box podcast!! Along the way, we talk about the enigma that is Franklin C. Cheeks, Esq, we explore the film’s obsession with seeing women’s underwear, mourn the loss of perfectly good textbooks, celebrate Polanski and Clark - the Beat Cop Investigation Unit, consider Joey Ramone’s place as a harbinger of death, and we face what we believe is the super-gross key image of the film!! All this, plus a fateful Choose Your Own Deathventure, and finally, we stage an intervention for website squatting!! Strap in cause this one is a wild ride!

Get ready for Saturn's 3 year transit of Pisces which will occur from March 7, 2022 - February 2026. Mar  7, 2023 ! Stay tuned until the end of the episode when Jill explains how each Zodiac sign will be affected by this Saturn transit.
Previous Saturn in Pisces transits:  May 1993-April 1996
    Mar 23, 1964, - March, 1967; Feb 14, 1935-Apr 25, 1937. Oct 17, 1937- Jan 14, 1938.
If you were born during any of these times, that means you have Saturn in Pisces in your natal birth chart which means you will be experiencing your Saturn return.
We experience a Saturn Return between 28-30 years old.  So the group born during May 1993-April 1996 will be experiencing their first Saturn Return!  Good Luck!  People born between between March 1964-March 1967 are experiencing their second Saturn return as they push up against the big 6-0.

The most recent Saturn in Pisces transit was from May 1993-April 1996.  Think about what was happening in your life then. Where you were living, what were your aspirations, what significant events occurred in your life during this time period?

If we go back to the earlier cycle of Saturn in Pisces during Mar 23, 1964, - March, 1967, (March 23rd, 1964, to September 16th, 1964
Big cultural shifts occurred during this cycle because it also coincided with Uranus Pluto conjunction in of 1966-67 in Virgo which opposed Saturn in Pisces. There was revolutionary activity (we will also be having Pluto in Aquarius the revolutionary sign this time around so buckle up with the revolutionary intensity. This was the beginning of the peace, free love, sex and rock-n-roll and drug revolution! Hippies were rampant, flower power was blooming!

The planet Saturn, was named after the Roman Deity, Saturn, whose Greek counterpart was Kronos., known as the Lord of Time, the“grim reaper,” and lord of Karma.  Saturn has a rulership over structure and form, and time and order.    Saturn has rulership over the aging process.

SO WHAT CAN WE EXPECT WHEN SATURN TRANSITS THROUGH PISCES?
Saturn is the planet of form and Pisces is the spiritual sign of the formless. Pisces  rules the 12 house in astrology, the house of karma and undoing, and the nebulous. Karma comes home to roost. Saturn is the ruler of form, and likes structures and boundaries, and Pisces is the sign of permeable boundaries as symbolized by its ruling element, a mutable water, and it’s totem archetype, two fishes swimming in the ocean. s. So with Saturn in Pisces,  we will witness structures being changed or dissolves, boundaries pushed beyond limits, people uprising against structures that restrict or limit them.  The go

Azrael the Angel of Death & Harnessing the Power of NDEs

Azrael the Angel of Death & Harnessing the Power of NDEs

I have a routine that I only just started a month or so ago. It’s called, “Morning Papers.” After the pets are fed, I sit with my coffee and do a quick two-minute meditation that gets me into Oneness with God and the Universe. I ask, “What do you need me to know or do today?” Then I listen. This particular morning I received, “Look up Azrael. Study and learn. L-O-V-E is the key. LISTEN! OBSERVE! VERIFY! ENACT! I misspelled Azrael, but an internet search for him turned up Archangel Azreal.

He is known as the Angel of Death, but he encompasses quite a bit more than that!

As the Angel of Death, he accompanies people as they cross from the physical world to the spiritual world. Some have called him the Grim Reaper. But, he does NOT cause death. In fact, he has nothing to do with that part of our human experience.

Azrael is the ferryman, the guide, and the protector.

When the deceased is ready, Azrael oversees their life review with them.

A secret I was unaware of until now is that Azrael is available to do life reviews for us at any time! Put a bookmark on that thought. I promise, I’ll dive deeper into soon.

190 - The Wailing of the Banshee

190 - The Wailing of the Banshee

Now that we have reached October, it's time for some spooky season stories.  Today we discuss one of the scary creatures from Irish folklore, the banshee.  Rumored to wail in signal of the impending death of those who hear it, the Banshee has roots that go back to the 8th century.  Are there wailing female forms haunting the Irish countryside, or are there other creatures a bit more mundane in origin that might have given birth to the legend.

Final Destination 2 (w/ Elissa Wagner)

Final Destination 2 (w/ Elissa Wagner)

It’s all coming back around again as we drive straight into the disaster that is FINAL DESTINATION 2! And along for the ride is a Returning Champion, the one - the only - Elissa Wagner! Once the danger starts barreling out of control at us, we discuss Jason Voorhees’ Murder Island, the fear of driving behind wood, the film’s hidden connection to Ratatouille, the franchise's most useless conspiracy theory, we wonder how you get the VIP suite at the insane asylum, we celebrate another run-in with Tony Todd, and the truly perplexing mystery behind how either “Dano” or “Frankie” could make any living person horny. All this plus a splat-tastic version of Choose Your Own Deathventure and the persistent danger of elevators in Gena’s life. You may not be able to cheat death twice, but you can make fun of it a whole bunch with us!!

    The Seventh Seal (1957)

    The Seventh Seal (1957)

Director Ingmar Bergman has many, many classic films but none are quite as popular as The Seventh Seal (1957). Both Jason Furie and Adam Roth watch this one for the very first time. How does it hold up in 2022? A very young and very angular Max von Sydow star in this painfully literal tale about a man's relationship with life, death, and one helluva game of chess.

1.04 - Episode 4 of Hotel Del Luna

In Episode 4 of Hotel Del Luna, things are getting complicated between Man Wol and Koo Chan Sung. • How Man Wol and Koo Chan Sung’s relationship is changing as he learns more about her past.
