    Ep.113 Midwest Mischief in Iowa

We are in the great Midwestern state of Iowa, where there are more hogs than people. Kenzie tells some spooky tales from the Farrar Schoolhouse in Maxwell. The school is a paranormal hot spot that is rumored to have portals to the spirit world. Next, Lauren tells us the gruesome story of the Gitchie Manitou murders. The story of four teenage boys who were taken from this earth far too soon. This episode will likely bring you both tears of laughter and sadness.

    48. Pennhurst School and Hospital

    48. Pennhurst School and Hospital

Episode 48 is here! This week we discuss Pennhurst School and Hospital, also known today as Pennhurst Asylum. This location is filled with a lot of heavy, graphic topics, so listener discretion is advised. From patient mistreatment, rumors of bad dentistry, and too many incident reports, it's no wonder this former hospital in Pennsylvania is rumored to be haunted. But is there anything to back of the claims? We have some opinions. Listen now!

Boom! The podcast is back for its second season, with a little surprise! The boys start off by catching up on what they've been up to, including a Friday the 13th visit to a haunted school in Bibai, Hokkaido - ranked as one of Japan's Top 10 haunted locations. They pay respect to Kane Tanaka who, until her passing last month, was the oldest living person in the world. And then a little controversy is brought to light about who actually holds the world record for being the oldest person ever.  Finally, it seems nobody will safe from the NHK subscription money collectors thanks to a new law taking effect next month! Listen now to find out all the details about these topics and more from the land of the rising sun!

    The School of Shadows

    The School of Shadows

"She’d later tell investigators, who were still trying to catch Phillip’s killer, that she was hearing noises coming from inside the walls of the home. Scratching, rattling noises. She sometimes could hear what sounded like someone breathing. Or someone whispering. The police came over to investigate…. and found nothing.

A few days later, the nurse called them again. This time, she reported seeing an apparition on the back stairs that “chattered its teeth at her” before completely disappearing into the darkness."

Dan and Lynze keep the scares coming in this 78th episode of Scared To Death! Dan has the strangest story to kick off episode. It's not what you think and the twist at the end just about sent Lynze over the edge. This story will give you a whole new set of fears. That sound in your attic, might not be what you think it is. And that thing you thought you saw out of the corner of your eye, might not be an apparition. In Dan's second tale, a terrible tragedy seems to be the base for a very haunted former school building in Canada. The building has since been transformed into modern condo's. Are the ghosts of the past haunting the current residents?

Lynze brings three juicy tales to her side of the episode. In her first story, we explore the idea that ghosts can be jealous and interfere in our most intimate moments. The story of Brenda and Doug is one that makes you really reconsider your most vulnerable moments. In her second story, Lynze gets all together too excited to try to scare Dan with one helluva creepy clown story! Oh, it's so juicy and will have you hiding all of your dolls. Lastly, in story three, a strange situation in which three people confirm the same thing, never knowing about the other's experiences. How does the evil from the other side seep into our lives?

Bad Magic Productions Monthly Patreon Donation:

Bad Magic Productions, thanks to our Scared to Death and Timesuck Patreon supporters, are going to be donating to the USC Shoah foundation. We don’t have the amount yet because of recording these in advance, but I’m guessing it will be around $12,500. Very close to that if not that.

I came across this foundation in the Armenian Genocide episode of Timesuck and - in the age of misinformation, where it seems like holocaust denial and the denial of other atrocities is on the rise thanks to all these fake “truthers” out there - I think it’s very important to support institutions like the USC Shoah foundation.

The currently have over 55,000 video different testimonies in their archives. Interviews average over two hours in length. Over 110,000 hours of first hand accounts from survivors of the Holocaust, the Armenian genocide, the Rwandan genocide and other historical atrocities.

It is much harder to deny the truth when you can hear and watch thousands and thousands of survivors tell their stories.

    Opening Sumerian protection spell (adapted):
"Whether thou art a ghost that hath come from the earth, or a phantom of night that hath no home… or one that lieth dead in the desert… or a ghost unburied… or a demon or a ghoul… Whatever thou be until thou art removed… thou shalt find here no water to drink… Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own… Into our house enter thou not. Through our fence, breakthrough thou not… we are protected though we may be frightened. Our life you may not steal, though we may feel SCARED TO DEATH."
