Embarking on a Transformative Yoga Journey with Rachel Brathen, NYT Bestselling Author and Founder of Yoga Girl

Embarking on a Transformative Yoga Journey with Rachel Brathen, NYT Bestselling Author and Founder of Yoga Girl

Have you ever wondered how yoga and mindfulness can change your life? We are thrilled to have Rachel Brathen, a New York Times bestselling author and the founder of Yoga Girl, join us for our new series , Mindset Mondays, to share her transformative journey. Rachel unveils her personal tale of how yoga offered her a haven during her turbulent teen years, providing her with tools to navigate through both physical and mental discomfort. Her inspiring story is a testament to how yoga can help us tune into our bodies and quieten the chaos of our minds.

Rachel's perspective on self-care as a necessity, rather than a luxury, is something that resonates with us deeply. She illuminates the critical role of self-care in our overall wellbeing, encouraging us to make it a priority without the burden of guilt. With her enlightening anecdotes, Rachel underscores how a consistent daily practice, no matter how brief, can have a profound impact. We delve into dynamic meditation practices, like shaking meditation, and explore how breath plays a critical role in yoga and meditation.

Starting your own yoga journey might seem daunting, but Rachel breaks it down for us in the most approachable way. She emphasizes the essence of yoga lies in the foundational poses and breathwork, not the intricate poses that often intimidate beginners. Rachel also shares her insights on creating a sacred space for mindfulness at home and how to approach self-care with self-love, including how she adapted her yoga practice during her pregnancy. We promise you that this conversation with Rachel is an invaluable guide for both yoga enthusiasts and beginners. Get ready to be inspired and find your path towards mindfulness and self-care.

In my 12th episode I have guest podcaster Dr. Jeff Lip, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor and he shares lessons learned about how how to heal after a divorce. According to research about 50 percent of first time marriages end in divorce and 68 percent of second marriages also end in divorce. After a divorce there are a lot of emotions and raw feelings that have to be managed and expressed in healthy ways to reconnect outside of the loss relationship. This conversation focuses on how you can heal with some practical and useful advice from Dr. Lip and Connie Akins, LPC. How you heal after a divorce or break-up may be different.  Dr. Lip and I both share some of our personal  journey in a way that can help you to heal.

For our first podcast without a guest, we decided to kick it off by conflicting! Well, more like landing a rough week, attempting to stay authentic while working out a few issues, and ending with Drea laughing and snorting (see min 35:45).

Hear us discuss our affairs, infidelity and how God has worked in our lives to turn destructive pasts, into joy, laughter, and an opportunity to encourage other marriages that healing is possible through Jesus.
