179// 5 Steps to Make Health Easy in 2024: My Health Plan for 2024, and How You Can Achieve Your Health Goals Using Functional Medicine, too

Was your health WAY to difficult to manage in 2023?

Are you ending 2023 feeling overwhelmed or discouraged by your health?

If so, you may benefit from having a health plan for 2024.

At the beginning of 2023, I shared my health goals for the year in Episode 122.

A few weeks ago, I shared my update on how my health goals went for 2023 and how I did it all with MINIMAL effort and without completely exhausting myself.

Today, I'm opening up my life and sharing my health plans for 2024. I'm also sharing with you how I determined my health goals for 2024, what I'm doing to prep to hit them, and how you can do all of this, too, with functional medicine.

As I made this episode, I was reminded of the quote from Benjamin Franklin: "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."

Health DOESN'T have to be a guessing game or something random that happens TO you. You can actually have a PLANNED impact on your health, so you can no longer be a victim to your health but feel that health is not only on your side but EASY, too.

Whether you're newly on a health journey or have been at it for a while, it's time to make your health a whole lot easier.

In episode 19 of This is Ag Podcast, I had the honor of speaking with Jeff Lundberg, the face of Babe Farms, a family-owned and operated company that has been working with UnitedAg for over 25 years. It is truly remarkable to see how Jeff has taken over the business from his mother, Judy, and maintained its amazing culture for over 40 years. Babe Farms is a leader in the gourmet produce industry, prioritizing superior quality, innovation, and genuine customer relationships. Tune in to hear stories from the worlds of Star Wars, Coca-Cola, and beyond!

During our conversation, we delved into various aspects of Babe Farms. It all began with their inspiration from the beautifully crafted produce found in Europe, which led them to grow into the outstanding company they are today. From vibrant carrots to golden beets and purple kohlrabi, Babe Farms produces eye-catching and stunning gourmet quality foods that go from farm to table. Their commitment to innovation has resulted in the success of their organic farm, conventional farm, and the specialty farm known as Babe Farms. (see https://www.babefarms.com/)

One thing that sets Babe Farms' apart is their focus on their employees. They truly prioritize their team members, fostering a strong sense of loyalty and commitment. Respect is at the core of their values, and every individual is treated with respect from day one. Babe Farms has cultivated a culture of appreciation and recognition, treating their employees as an extended family. They celebrate milestones together, provide benefits like 401k and health insurance, and organize events to express their gratitude.

Through my conversation with Jeff, I gained valuable insights into the workings of the farming industry. His passion for the business is evident, especially when he talks about the rewarding experience of witnessing the entire process from seed to harvest. Jeff embodies the values of a true farmer, being a steward of the land and a community-oriented business owner. I commended Babe Farms for their remarkable accomplishments, growth, and commitment to their employees and customers. It was an absolute pleasure to have Jeff on the podcast and learn more about the extraordinary journey of Babe Farms.

As insurance goes, the top 5% of the people in Self-Funding plans are responsible for 90% of the claims. But what if you could remove some of those top claims from your plan? That would be tremendous for cost and beneficial for both company and its employees.

This week's Heads Up Adviser Show guest has the key solution to deal with high-claim individuals and gives them options - other than a group health plan.

He came up with the process where it becomes possible to connect individuals with other options for health insurance. As a result, they'll voluntarily leave the plan - and take all these large claims with them.

Episode 143: Anthem’s CDO Rajeev Ronanki on Leveraging Digital Approaches to Transform Healthcare

Episode 143: Anthem’s CDO Rajeev Ronanki on Leveraging Digital Approaches to Transform Healthcare

As a former Partner at Deloitte, Rajeev Ronanki established and led Deloitte's Life Sciences and Healthcare Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Innovation practices. He then was offered a chance to join Anthem and lead their transformation to becoming a digital-first enterprise. Rajeev viewed this a great opportunity to help transform healthcare, so he accepted the position. How did he start to tackle this challenge and develop a vision for this insurance giant? First, by simply defining what “digital” meant within Anthem. Once aligned on that, he was able to start implementing automation of core business practices and developing an application to engage consumers in a more personalized manner. Then, the real value came. Leveraging over 10 million users on their digital platform, Anthem was able to improve their app based on user feedback collected on the platform (they tested an average of 180 user experiences per day!). More impactfully though, the group could start deriving real healthcare insights. Tune into this episode to learn more about Anthem’s new digital-first approach, as host Steve Krupa chats with Rajeev on the company’s digital revolution, its partnerships with startups and investors, the opportunity for more upfront diagnosis, and even Rajeev’s thoughts on blockchain’s utility in healthcare.

Rajeev Ronanki serves as Chief Digital Officer at Anthem, Inc. He is leading the transformation of Anthem to become a digital/AI-first enterprise through driving the vision, strategy, and execution of Anthem’s Digital, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Exponential Technology, Service Experience, and Innovation portfolios. Through these efforts, Mr. Ronanki is enabling Anthem to harness the power of AI and data to better understand healthcare consumers and provide tailored, personalized care. His experience spans over 20 years of innovation-driven industry and social change across healthcare and technology.

Episode 142: CEO Fay Rotenberg on how Firefly Health is Striving for Half Priced Healthcare that is Twice as Good

Having been both an operator and an investor in the healthcare industry, Fay Rotenberg knows the challenges and silos all too well. She was encouraged when she first met the co-founders of Firefly Health though. Initially, she had agreed to meet with them 1 day per week, then that grew to 2 days per week, then 3, and before she knew it, she joined the company as President and CEO about 3 years ago. Firefly is striving to shift healthcare from episodic to continuous care. They are a virtual-first clinical network consisting of primary care, behavioral health, and specialty care, all accessible via a world-class navigation platform. Think of Firefly as a mini and virtual Kaiser, as they are now also expanding into full benefit models for employers. By reducing costs and improving outcomes, they have begun to achieve concierge medicine at scale. Patients interact with their platform an average of 41 times per year and receive a response within 5 minutes, while doctors also love being part of their team-based care approach, as it allows them to focus on tasks that are most value added for them. Tune into this episode to learn more about Firefly Health, as host Steve Krupa chats with Fay on the company’s mission to provide half priced health care that is twice as good, its start with insurers as original customers (now somewhat competitors), its growth to over 50 employees, and its future including developing a health plan replacement for employers.
