E131: The most wonderful time of the year - Transfer Deadline Day in Football Manager [Live Episode]

E131: The most wonderful time of the year - Transfer Deadline Day in Football Manager [Live Episode]

Like two kids in a sweetshop, Ken and Shane have money to burn and it's transfer deadline day so we're going with one more live episode to get us across the line and into February.

For Ken, there's about €20m to play with at Anfield though with the squad registration full, it's got to be one-in-one-out and the offers aren't exactly forthcoming. Shane has a shade over €60m to play with a new job as he takes over Hoffenheim. Can he rebuild the squad in his own vision, in one day, and get a win in his first game as manager which happens to be against his old club Augsburg?

Getting the sack from United means Shane also misses the trip to Anfield and a chance to avenge a 4-1 defeat at the start of the season as Ken gets to grips with Antonio Conte, freshly installed in the dugout of the Red Devils.

So we finally wave goodbye to January, get our first game in February under our belts and we've now both got some European football to look forward to this month.

Definitely contains strong language. Get in touch on X (RIP, Twitter) @fmfshow, @tacticalmanager and @sirsok1 and get new episodes every Friday wherever you do your podcast listening.

Bundesliga Update: Who's winning? Who's going down?

Bundesliga Update: Who's winning? Who's going down?

Markus Fjørtoft (@MarkusFjortoft) and Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft) are back a bit later in the week to review and preview the latest results and news in the Bundesliga, as we face the intriguing prospect of multiple teams fighting for the title and avoiding relegation. It starts off on Friday with high-flying Dortmund against RB Leipzig and friend turned foe, Marco Rose. Who would Bayern rather compete against, after they dominated Union Berlin last weekend? Who will grab the Champions League spots, and is Eintracht better served to focus on only the Bundesliga? Will Schalke's momentum and next set of fixtures be enough to see them stay up as they fight to avoid relegation against the likes of free-falling Hoffenheim and Matarazzo's Stuttgart? For a quick update on the standings in the Bundesliga, and where it could go from here, listen in!

Player's Corner w/ RB Leipzig & Norway International Ørjan Nyland

Player's Corner w/ RB Leipzig & Norway International Ørjan Nyland

Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft) and Markus Fjørtoft (@MarkusFjortoft) had the pleasure of talking to RB Leipzig Goalkeeper, Norwegian International, and former Premier League goalkeeper for our first guest in the "Player´s Corner".

Following a break-out season at Norwegian Championship club Hødd, in which he won the Norwegian Cup and became MOTM in the final, he made his way to Molde and Ole Gunnar Solskjær before heading to his first period in the Bundesliga with FC Ingolstadt under Ralph Hasenhüttl. He stayed there for three years before heading to England where he had various stints in the Championship and Premier League, most notably with Aston Villa. He has 40 caps for Norway and signed for RB Leipzig in October for the remainder of the season.

Ørjan was kind and open enough to share his football journey, from an ambitious and hugely talented young goalkeeper in Norway, to a more experienced and mature goalkeeper now back in Germany. Enjoy!

    Week 13 & 14: Champions League draws & Midweek Games Round-Up

    Week 13 & 14: Champions League draws & Midweek Games Round-Up

The thirteenth weekend of the Bundesliga is concluded along with the midweek games, most popularly referred to as the "Englische Woche" in Germany. Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft) and Markus Fjørtoft (@MarkusFjortoft) are here to discuss that, plus the Champions League involvement of four Bundesliga teams: Bayern München, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, and Borussia Dortmund. Why are Nagelsmann and Bayern, Glasner and Eintracht, and Rose and RB Leipzig in particular performing so well at the moment? Wolfsburg have responded strongly under the leadership of Kovac following their weak start to the campaign. Why? The "English Week" also proved fruitful for Xabi Alonso as his Bayer Leverkusen earned two wins in a row, one of which was the 5-0 win against the then league leaders Union Berlin. Never a dull week in the Bundesliga.
