But we are undoubtedly in one of the greatest identity crises the world has ever seen.

How does this identity crisis affect the 21st century woman in ministry and leadership? How does this impact the next generation? And what does God say about the subject of identity? Sheila Harper is the Founder and President of SaveOne, a global outreach ministry helping men, women, & families recover after abortion. She holds a Master’s degree in Biblical counseling, is a certified mental health coach with the American Association of Christian Counselors, & is the author of 10 books. Her first book, SaveOne-A Guide to Emotional Healing after Abortion, has been translated & distributed in 23 languages.

SaveOne currently has close to 400 chapters in 27 countries. Sheila has traveled the world speaking on the topic of abortion recovery, as well as training abortion recovery leaders. After enduring seven years of personal anguish over choosing abortion, she  found restoration & forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Why does it feel like there is so much power in a gift? 

A meaningful gift can move someone from neutral to abundance in an instant. 

Can a gift move you if you never received it? 

It doesn’t change the fact that the gift was given. Every new day that gift is readily available to reach out and receive. Not only were we a gift from God the Father to Christ Jesus. But Jesus Christ was a gift to me. Our value to the Father is beyond our understanding because He badly wants our love. 

How hard have you searched for the people that you love? 

Do they experience the joy of your bottomless love for their attention, for their heart, or just to be in their life?

Is it possible to experience the joy of a gift without ever receiving it? 

How can I feel the excitement of a gift if I never open it? 

Eventually, I have to choose to receive it. The willingness required to choose this is up to me. It's a gift I open in faith, not knowing what I’m taking on. Sometimes choosing to let go and truly receive the joy of a gift given in love can be challenging. Many of us have been through a lot. 

Why would anyone love me after what I've done in my life? 

For so long, I walked around knowing there was a plan for me and a higher purpose for my life. I always needed clarification on what this meant. It had never been explicitly clear to me. Once I gave my life to Christ everything changed instantly. I felt this change but didn't fully understand it.

In the same way you can feel heat radiate off a light bulb. My old self was gone, the new creation was born. I was literally developing all over again. I matured into my old self, but my new creation was only just born. Colossians 1:28 growth had started. From being an infant to growing in my faith, learning how to feed myself and walk on my own. Learning who Christ had called me to be. Understanding His will in my life and knowing the truth about who He says I am!

If you're going through this process, you may be like me. I hope to encourage you as you mature in your faith walk with Christ. Understanding your true identity and who Christ made you to be is the beginning of our eternity with Him.

God the Father loves me the same way He loves Jesus.

“I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” John 17:23

The high priest's prayer continues, and I ask, can you hear the Lord’s prayer for you and me?

For so long, I walked around knowing there was a plan for me and a higher purpose for my life. I always needed clarification on what this meant. It had never been explicitly clear to me. Once I gave my life to Christ everything changed instantly. I felt this change but didn't fully understand it.

I matured into my old self, but my new creation was only just born. Colossians 1:28 growth had started. From being an infant to growing in my faith, learning how to feed myself and walk on my own. Learning who Christ had called me to be. Understanding His will in my life and knowing the truth about who He says I am!

I’m in God the Father and Jesus the Son.
