IFBB pro Tia Douglass: Making history and breaking binge eating

IFBB pro Tia Douglass: Making history and breaking binge eating

Thanks for listening to another episode of The Women’s Fittest Podcast! This is episode #102 and my guest today is IFBB pro Tia Douglass!

There’s so much I need to say about Tia. First of all her tenacity for this sport over the last 10 years is absolutely incredible. Earning her pro card in 2019 and making history winning 4 first places two years in a row at the Baltimore classic in 2020 and 2021 in bodybuilding and women’s physique!! Who does that?! Secondly, but actually first, is that she’s just a beautiful person.

These interviews are not just about celebrating the accomplishment of the athlete but the story overcoming adversities to get there. Tia’s story is unique but no different. Not everyone connects to this particular struggle with emotional or binge eating but every woman at some point has realized she could be great and somehow allowed fear to get in the way, manifesting in a struggle of some kind. We have all self sabotaged to some degree. This is relatable. To know you have a gift but to be scared to fulfill it could be any woman’s journey.

Maybe this is why I love hosting this podcast so much. I love to get to to the heart of the athlete. And for the women who choose to bear it all, not just in 4 triangles to a panel of judges, but their heart & soul to a world, I’m honored and give you my stage, my platform, and all my respect. Because there’s no guaranteed prize for either one. You’re just doing what you feel lead to do: Show who you are.

This interview ended with Tia breaking into song blessing all of us with the truest message “Jesus loves me”. You know ones heart is gold if someone asks you to sing and that’s the first song that comes to mind.

I hope this connection translates to the crowd of listeners, because it definitely resonated with me. And each story only needs to affect one person to make a difference. Then that person affects another and that’s how the strength grows. Women supporting women, empowering women, encouraging women.

Wishing continued healing and growth to you Tia Douglass. We are all cheering for your victory, and on going recovery. Yes, Jesus loves you. And so so we. Cheers to being fearless in the confidence of knowing and discovering who you are and who you’re meant to be, and being brave enough to share it.

If you’re struggling with binge eating disorder or any type of emotional disorder there’s help available. It does get better and easier. I encourage you to seek professional counseling. There’s hope for recovery if you chose it.

    Life-Sparring Podcast - Round 18: Aiko "Little Hulk" Liu - Bodybuilding 101

    Life-Sparring Podcast - Round 18: Aiko "Little Hulk" Liu - Bodybuilding 101

For the last three years, working out during my lunch break with a personal trainer has been one of the few affordable luxuries in my life. Since the summer of last year, I have trained twice per week with Aiko Liu, also known as " Little Hulk, " in Hong Kong Bodybuilding circles and by his 10k followers on Instagram.

Aiko has been successfully competing in the amateur bodybuilding circuit in Hong Kong and beyond for the past five years and is working as a coach with several other competitive athletes. In addition to competing as an athlete and working as a personal trainer, Aiko has been an investor in gyms in Hong Kong.

Reason enough to take the Life-Sparring Podcast out of the comfort of my home studio and meet Aiko in his brand-new Vision PT gym, in Shatin Hong Kong, to talk about bodybuilding, gym economics, steroids, and workout and diet routines.

Let's kick this year off strong and do what people usually do in January, going to the gym.

More info and all links to Aiko's Social Media profiles in the Show Notes on Life-Sparring.com.

Miss Fitness Olympia 2021 IFBB Pro Whitney Jones is Unstoppable

Thanks for listening to another episode of The Women’s Fittest Podcast!

In this episode #88 I interview the incredible 2021 Miss Fitness Olympia Whitney Jones. This 44 year old mother of two teenage boys and absolute powerhouse is so wise with life experience and perspective. I felt like I listening to a favorite teacher! Whitney grew up the youngest of three with two older brothers who taught her how to be competitive! After one run in figure she turned to the fitness division witnessing the performances and being wowed and challenged! The fitness division, especially on the pro level, is no joke and after a neck injury in 2018 resulting in partial paralysis Whitney thought her career could be over. After searching for anyone who recovered from a similar neck break and not finding anyone, she decided to be the story of hope and she came back and win the Olympia!  If you don’t love Whitney after this interview that’s definitely a you problem. She is all the work ethic, all the tenacity, and all the positive vibes!! Pure inspiration for women everywhere! Thank you again for your time and this interview was my absolute pleasure!

    Topics covered

    • Staying focused in the gym to avoid the guys picking up women and other advice for women in the gym
    • What makes a good fitness routine and how difficult the fitness division really is
    • How to be a more positive person and
    • How Whitney eats IIFYM all the time even with prep and her very healthy relationship with food and how building lean muscle has allowed her to diet flexibly
    • Her 16 surgeries and many injuries including a broken neck which was supposed to end her career
    • Running 5 businesses while being a single mom of 2 teenage boys
    • What her training looks like
    • Her book she’s writing
    • And so much more

#9 | Into The Bat Cave | Misconceptions Gone Wild |

Episode 9 has Jamal and I gracing your ears with tons of fact bombs. The need for instant gratification is more apparent than ever in the fitness industry. We touched on a few misconceptions that usually come about when you're first getting into the gym. Lactic acid, caffeine intake, women lifting and becoming she-hulk?!

As usual the "fee" is to share with some friends and family. If you think this could bring value to them, we want to get it in front of as many people as possible.

Episode #3 is in the books! We are pumping the content out and the feedback has been so amazing. I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the infamous Andre Ferguson, A.K.A Lucky Libra yesterday at the studio. We got to catch up and talk about his family, Olympia performance, and much much more. If you know how Andre and I are, it's legit just a hang-out session with mics in front of us. My man was scarfing his meal down when we started!

Once again I appreciate all the love and support. If you have any feedback for guests/segments I'm all ears! I want this show to be something everyone can be a part of.

    #1 | Intro To Rizzology |

What's going down guys?! Appreciate all the love and support so far for Rizzology. It's been a blessing to have everyone so happy to have me back podcasting. This is a short and sweet intro episode to explain how this show will run. We've come to the conclusion I have far too many friends that are interesting, so now, we have a show to bring them all out and on.

With revolving Co-Hosts, we can tailor each episode to each person, rather than make a million shows to have everyone on. This is going to be an awesome adventure, and I'm glad you're here for the ride.

Best way to help me grow and keep this ship floating you ask? SHARE SHARE SHARE! I'm not the kind of guy to constantly bring up a call to action, but, I need your help to get the word out on the show. See a clip you like? Share it on social. Hear something you think is valuable for someone you know? Share the episode with them. It's all about word of mouth. And I greatly appreciate every share, like, and comment.

    • Dealing with other people’s negative opinions
    • Should you post your prep on social media
