    The Blue Castle - L.M.Montgomery - Part 8

    The Blue Castle - L.M.Montgomery - Part 8
Today we dive into chapters 29 through 32. What L.M.Montgomery does for us in these chapters, is really give us a visual refrence for life in Mistawis through the year on their island. Of course she provides us with wonderful events and adventures of Valancy and Barney to keep the storyline moving forward. Such vivid pictures I was able to create in my imagination while reading this section of the novel. Isn't it amusing placing yourself in the lives of others sometimes.

    The Blue Castle - L.M.Montgomery - Part 1

    The Blue Castle - L.M.Montgomery - Part 1
Our latest episode starts the novel "The Blue Castle" written in 1926 by Lucy Maud Montgomery. In the first 4 chapters that we read on this episode, we are introduced to the main character Valancy Stirling. We are shown what she looks like, the present living conditions, her disfunctional family, and a brief introduction to the blue castle. Join me as we journey back to a place in Canada during the 1920's and let us immerse ourselves in the life of Valancy Sterling.

The Souls of Black Folk - W.E.B. Du Bois - Chapter 14

The Souls of Black Folk - W.E.B. Du Bois - Chapter 14
In this final chapter, Mr. Du Bois shows us the importance of the "Sorrow Songs". He shares how it is not just music but a story of suffering and pain. Yet, he also reveals the eternal hope that those songs brought to those that sang these songs. A hope for a better future and the strength to push on to see it. These are songs that have connected black Americans to their past, present, and someday their future people.
