Drop-In: My next Big Book, Sundays + go Birdies!

Welcome to Ten Pages, an online literary community 📓🤍 I'm your host @bellini.carly, but you can call me Carly B.... (opinions 100% my own).

Tune into today's informal drop-in about romanticizing Sundays, rooting for the Birds (and, more importantly, Rihanna), and my next Big Book project.

This Is Water by David Foster Wallace

Welcome to Ten Pages, an online literary community 📓🤍 I'm your host @bellini.carly, but you can call me Carly B....

Tune into today's episode about This Is Water by David Foster Wallace.  I have talked about DFW on the podcast before, re: Infinite Jest.  This Is Water is arguably DFW's central thesis of his entire body of work, and it is a beautiful reminder to live a more compassionate life.

Sony, Game Preservation, and The Taking of a Tremendous Duke

Sony, Game Preservation, and The Taking of a Tremendous Duke

Cast your mind back to the halcyon days of one episode ago, when we spent more than an hour talking about wacky licensed video games with Aaron's brother. Fun times, right?

Now, pop your earbuds in and listen to us talk about the borderline catastrophe that was Sony's plan to blitz the online stores for the PS Vita, PS3, and PSP (all of which Aaron owns, none of which he regrets buying), and the threat that poses to the preservation of games both new and old. It may be a bit on the heavy side, but it did prompt Aaron to say something semi-insightful for what may be the first time in the glorious history of SPR.

Additional high points include a fleeting mention of the Oscars, yet another discussion about The Last of Us, a startling lack of cat noises, and Zak winning the game of grammar moments before revealing his catastrophic bathroom crimes.

    Hey, what did you expect?

Also, a divide can surround something; Aaron is just a dumbo.

42 - Brooklyn, The Lobster, End of the Tour, Hungry Hearts

We get a little serious in this episode as we discuss Oscar hopeful Brooklyn. The absurd comedy starring Colin Farrell, Colin Farrell's mustache and narration by Rachel Weisz, The Lobster gets assessed. The biopic The End of the Tour gets a look in with all the seriousness and depth that a film about David Foster Wallace deserves. Finally, vegetarians run for the hills! Hungry Hearts is given an in depth look in. Things turn scatalogical near the end, as per usual.
