E24 : Bishop Lamont - The Confessional (avec Feelkast)

    Handel on the News

    Handel on the News
Amy King and Wayne Resnick accompany Bill for Handel on the News. Ohio's ballot vote could preview the 2024 politics of abortion. Thousands of Los Angeles City Workers are preparing for a one-day strike to protest contract negotiations. And an Inglewood hospital has been fined $75,000 for failures that led to a patient dying while admitted there for labor and delivery.

Episode #126: The Dopest with Teo Hunter of Crowns & Hops | Adjunct Series

Episode #126: The Dopest with Teo Hunter of Crowns & Hops | Adjunct Series

There's almost nothing better than watching your homies win, and it's been an honour and a privilege to watch Crowns & Hops' soar to success. Co-Founder and friend of the show Teo Hunter joins Cee to catch up from his last appearance on the pod, they talk about their 8 Trill Pils initiative, how their crowdfunding and equity campaigns went, what they learned from their challenges, why equity is the most important factor in diversifying the craft beer industry, their contract brewing journey, why they changed their flagship beer from BPLB to The Dopest, and Teo even took over as host for a bit with some Hip Hop talk. They crushed four killer Crowns beers - 8 Trill Pils, The Dopest hazy IPA, Inglewood Sun West Coast IPA and Mama's Punch Tart Ale. This was a ton of fun - get it in ya!

Jorge Gomez of The Money Studio

In this episode, you’ll meet Jorge Gomez, a brand strategist and graffiti writer based out of Inglewood, CA. You’ll hear about Jorge’s work running The Money Studio, helping BIPOC-owned brands preserve their culture, as well as his design origin story that started with graffiti. You’ll hear how he’s doubled down on setbacks in his life and used them as powerful catalysts for growth, including the ways in which he faced prejudice in his ascent through school and into industry. Jorge shares his use of Design Thinking and math (math!) when painting murals, how he said “yes” before he was ready and the ways in which his family plays an integral role in his work.

This episode is part of a guest lecture series in GCM 806 Advanced Typography in The Creative School at TMU and co-hosted by student, Katrina Javier.

Grab Me By The Stem: The Wine Episode (ft. Leslie Jones)

Grab Me By The Stem: The Wine Episode (ft. Leslie Jones)

Just because only one percent of the eleven-thousand wineries in the U.S. are Black-owned, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. To get proof, they left their homes and tracked down an expert–Leslie Jones, co-owner of Inglewood’s first and only wine bar, 1010 Wine. Thanks to their tireless reporting, jarrett and Tre’vell were able to get their hands–and mouths–on numerous glasses of wine from actual Black-owned wineries. Along the way, they learned about pushy wine reps, why it’s better to hold the stem than the bowl, and what inspires someone to open the first wine bar in Inglewood.

318 - Bloods and Crips - America's Deadliest Gang Rivalry

318 - Bloods and Crips - America's Deadliest Gang Rivalry

Today we cover the formation of the infamous Bloods and Crips gang rivalry. How did it get started? Why did it begin in South Central Los Angeles in the late 1960s and early 1970s? The Crips were founded by two high schoolers named Raymond Washington and Stanley “Tookie” Williams, who formed an alliance to protect their neighborhoods from other young people who were harassing them. And then very quickly, gang violence escalated far beyond beating up other kids with your fists to  drive-by shootings, over 15,000 murders, and controlling much of the nation's drug trade. Hope you find all this info as interesting as I did.

LA Rams COO reveals the story behind SoFi

As the excitement for Super Bowl LVI takes over Los Angeles, host Giselle Fernandez joined LA Rams COO Kevin Demoff for a behind-the-scenes tour of SoFi Stadium. At 3.1 million square feet, it's the largest stadium in the world and boasts the largest video board in all of sports. After growing up listening in on his sports agent father speaking with NFL executives, Demoff became one of those executives himself, working first for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and now as chief operating officer for the Rams. He proudly spearheaded the development of SoFi Stadium and looks forward to the future of football on the West Coast, especially now that the Rams are competing in this year’s Super Bowl in Inglewood.

261 - The Grim Sleeper Serial Killer and the Southside Slayer murders

261 - The Grim Sleeper Serial Killer and the Southside Slayer murders

Lonnie David Franklin Jr. was but one of the numerous prolific serial killers preying on sex workers in South Central Los Angeles in the 1980s. And then after possibly going to "sleep"
during the 1990s, he started killing again in the first decade of the 2000's. The Grim Sleeper preyed almost exclusively on black, female, crack-addicted sex workers in South Central where he lived. South Central was in the midst of a crack epidemic when he got started in 1985 (or possibly 1984), and by the time he was done in 2007, he'd killed at least ten women but likely closer to twenty-five. And one man as well. Today we dig into our first black serial killer, look into racial bias when it comes to media coverage of black killers and black victims, explore the LA 80's crack epidemic, and more, in another true crime edition of Timesuck.

    THE BIG SHOW DIX

    THE BIG SHOW DIX
Part 8 - Leon for the Stanley Cup? Von wegen! Part 9 - Noch nix Rundes bei den Lakers Part 10 - Zielsprints und Europameisterschaften Part 11 - Die heulenden Tennis-Wölfe von Rom
