Tanya Chapter 1 part 3. Getting to know the origin of our first soul, unveiling the secret of the tree of knowledge of good and evil

Tanya Chapter 1 part 3. Getting to know the origin of our first soul, unveiling the secret of the tree of knowledge of good and evil

Let's explore the first soul, the one that vitalizes our body and is clothed within our blood. It originates from the klipah and sitra achara, the realm of unholiness, and is made of the four evil elements that give rise to our negative qualities and character traits. Surprisingly, this soul is also the source for the natural Jewish traits of kindness and compassion. This is because it stems from the "glowing klipah" –– kelipat nogah –– which contains both good and evil, flowing from the esoteric tree of knowledge of good and evil. The distinct inclination of the Jewish animal soul towards altruistic goodness is unique to them. On the other hand, the natural soul of most people from other nations originates from the three completely impure kelipot, which obscure any trace of goodness. Consequently, the kindness they exhibit is driven by self-serving motives.

    Count Your Blessings

    Count Your Blessings

Join me on today's episode of Navigate the Day as we explore the wisdom of Marcus Aurelius and delve into the power of counting our blessings. Inspired by his words in Meditations, we embark on a journey of gratitude and self-reflection.

In a world filled with desires and aspirations for what we don't possess, Marcus Aurelius reminds us to shift our focus. Instead of fixating on what we lack, we are encouraged to count the blessings we already have. Let's take a moment to appreciate the things that surround us, the possessions that enhance our lives.

From the practicality of a working cell phone and reliable transportation to the comfort of a roof over our heads, our material possessions provide us with security and convenience. Let's not overlook the value of books, those gateways to knowledge and different perspectives. They allow us to learn, grow, and expand our understanding of the world.

Yet, as we count our blessings, we must be mindful not to become overly attached. Marcus Aurelius cautions us against valuing these possessions to the point of being troubled if we were to lose them. True contentment lies in finding a balance between gratitude and detachment, recognizing that all material things are fleeting.

Beyond physical possessions, we come to appreciate the intangible blessings that shape our lives. Our thoughts, our ability to reason and ponder, are a precious gift. Let us cherish our voice, both metaphorically and literally, and make the most of it. Our thoughts and ideas have the power to impact others and make a difference.

Gratitude also extends to the people in our lives who accept us for who we are, flaws and all. They provide us with love, support, and companionship. Let us express our gratitude more often, letting them know how much they mean to us.

As we navigate our journey, we must remember that material possessions and external circumstances are transient. The true essence of our well-being lies in cultivating our mind, maintaining our health, and nurturing our inner self. Let us focus on personal growth, reading, learning, and taking care of our mental and physical well-being.

Today's journal prompt invites us to count our blessings and reflect on the richness of our lives. Join me in practicing gratitude, cultivating contentment, and embracing the abundance that already surrounds us. Together, let's navigate the day with a heart filled with appreciation and joy.

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!

    To Each His Own

    To Each His Own

In this episode of "Navigate The Day," we explore the idea that we should focus on our own nature and what we can control in our own lives, rather than being consumed by other people's shortcomings. The quote from Marcus Aurelius's "Meditations," "Another has done me wrong? Let him see to it," reminds us that we don't need to take on the responsibility of fixing someone else's behavior or seeking revenge.

As I reflect on this quote and the journal prompt it inspires, I realize that I often care too much about what others are doing or how they are handling their lives. I get frustrated with coworkers who don't pull their weight or don't share my level of professionalism. However, I now see that it's not within my control to correct or assist in their life circumstances. Instead, I need to focus on myself, my actions, and my thoughts.

By letting go of the burden of feeling the need to solve everyone else's problems, I can accomplish more for myself and give more to those around me. Other people will always have their own perspectives and tendencies, but their problems and tendencies don't need to affect me unless I allow them to. By disregarding the missteps of others and focusing on what I can control, I can be more useful to my friends, family, and society as a whole.

I am reminded of the importance of shutting out external noise and listening to my inner self. I no longer want to let my temper run rampant or allow others to have control over my views or actions. Aurelius is suggesting that we should accept that people have their own proclivities and problems, and it's not our job to solve them. We should focus on what is within our own control and work towards achieving our own goals and desires.

In conclusion, I am inspired to focus on my own personal growth and development, rather than worrying about others' leanings and difficulties. By accepting that others have their own inclinations and complications, and that it's not my responsibility to fix them, I can avoid unnecessary stress and frustration. Ultimately, by changing my energy towards my own personal growth and development, I can achieve a more fulfilling life.

Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!
