    Instagram legger ned live shopping

    I denne episoden av Suksess med annonsering diskuterer vi Meta sin nylige beslutning om å avslutte live shopping-funksjonen på Instagram. Fra 16. mars 2023 vil ikke lenger Instagram-brukere kunne tagge produkter i direktesendinger, en funksjon som har vært tilgjengelig for amerikanske bedrifter og innholdsskapere siden 2020. Denne endringen understreker utfordringene det amerikanske markedet har møtt med å gjøre live shopping til en suksess.

    Live shopping er allerede en stor hit i asiatiske markeder, spesielt i Kina, hvor apper som WeChat, Taobao Live og Douyin (Kinas TikTok) har bevist at live shopping er populært og lønnsomt. Da pandemien herjet, forsøkte mange amerikanske bedrifter å adoptere live shopping for å øke sin egen online omsetning. Imidlertid viste det seg at pandemien hadde skjult det virkelige bildet. Når ting returnerte til normalen, oppdaget analytikere at amerikanske forbrukere ikke hadde tatt til seg live shopping i samme grad.

    TikTok, som ble sett på som en potensiell leder innen live shopping, har også trappet ned sine live shopping-planer i USA og Europa etter at flere tester ikke resulterte i salg. Det ser ut til at ulike kulturer og digitale vaner i vestlige markeder har gjort det vanskelig å kopiere Kinas suksess med live shopping. Meta hevder at de fortsatt er investert i shopping, ettersom 90% av brukerne følger minst én bedrift på plattformen, selv om de nå avslutter live shopping-funksjonen.

I den nye testen har Shop-fanen blitt fjernet fra appens startskjerm og er i stedet skjult under Innstillinger. Shop-fanen pleide å være på den nederste navigasjonslinjen.
